Skanska's Celebrations

Diversity

Did you know that donuts in Ireland are called gravy rings? Neither did we, until Skanska celebrated Diversity and Inclusion Week, educating employees and partners on how to create a more inclusive workplace and get more involved in the community. (So other donuts don't feel excluded, employees also learned of alternative names in other countries.) All of the firms 9,400 US employees celebrated the inaugural event. Here in Houston, Asmir Ibisevic, Skanska diversity committee chair Laura Flores-Urquidi, Jamilia Martinez, and Tony Campos posted family photos to a heritage map. The firm also held a global taste potluck lunch and hosted an international breakfast for subcontractors at 3009 Post Oak.

Skanska also recently celebrated Earth Day by planting a 25-year-old, 25-foot heritage oak at 3009 Post Oak. The tree now sits at the entry of the LEED Platinum building.
