With more than 35 years of leadership experience in commercial real estate, Mitchell Schear ran two of Washington’s most influential real estate companies owning and developing some of the most iconic office and residential projects in DC. Today, Mitchell has turned his focus to “PropTech”, the dynamic intersection of the burgeoning new creative/tech sector and traditional brick and mortar. From 2019 - 2023 Mitchell was an Executive Partner at Camber Creek, effectively combining his passion for PropTech with his wealth of commercial real estate experience. Camber Creek is the longest standing real estate technology venture capital firm with a proven and successful track record of investing in emerging real estate technology market leaders, catalyzing growth for those companies, and achieving outsized returns for its investors. In his role at Camber Creek, Mitchell focused on selecting portfolio companies to invest in, and then cultivating and growing them. He brought investing, operating and leadership experience and expertise across a broad range of real estate verticals, including development, leasing, construction and property management. From 2003 until 2017, Mitchell was President of Vornado/Charles E. Smith, the DC division of Vornado Realty Trust, a $20 billion real estate investment trust. In that role, he directed the strategy, performance and growth of Vornado’s extensive 20+ million square foot portfolio in the Washington DC region. In Arlington, VA, his forward-thinking, placemaking vision transformed Crystal City (now “National Landing”) into a vibrant, creative community that became home to a growing innovation hub and great restaurants/retail concepts. From 2017 – 2020, Mitchell served as a board member for JBG SMITH, a successor company and the largest real estate company in the Washington metropolitan area. Prior to joining Vornado in April 2003, Mitchell spent 15 years at The Kaempfer Company, where, as President, he oversaw all of the company’s development, leasing, and management activities. In 2021, Mitchell was appointed to the Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents Facilities Committee where he will work to provide leadership and oversight for the revitalization and maintenance of the vast real estate holdings of Smithsonian. He is also involved in a variety of organizations and charities, including Higher Achievement where he rallied the real estate and business community to raise more than $1 million annually for this organization dedicated to helping at-risk middle-school kids excel and succeed. In 2016, Mitchell was honored by Higher Achievement for his extraordinary leadership and commitment. For many years, Mitchell has been a value-add member of numerous private and public boards, task forces, and advisory committees. In 2015, he was honored by Transwestern as Trendsetter of the Year in recognition of his legacy of innovation, quality and many contributions to the Washington community. In 2007, Mitchell was recognized by the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) with its highest honor, the Achievement Award.

Chris Hughes

Mr. Hughes is CEO of the Capital Markets group and CEO of Hines’ East Region. He is a member of the firm’s Executive, Steering, Strategy and global Investment Committees. Additionally, Hughes chairs the Capital Markets Committee. He is responsible for all institutional capital raising activities globally, including structuring of commingled funds and joint ventures. As head of the East Region, Hughes oversees all development, acquisitions and operations activity in the Eastern United States. His past experience includes serving as a development officer in Hines’ Washington, D.C. office.

Hughes graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA in History. He is a registered representative of Hines Securities, Inc., a broker-dealer affiliate of Hines, and holds FINRA Series 22 and Series 63 licenses.

Paul DeMartini

Mr. DeMartini joined Tishman Speyer in 2005 and is currently responsible for the company’s operations

in the Washington, DC, region, including acquisitions, dispositions and development in the DC, Virginia

and Maryland portfolios. He joined the firm as part of the Leadership Development Program, working in

both New York and Los Angeles, and throughout his tenure has been responsible for the acquisition,

disposition and development almost 12 million square feet of real estate, with a value of approximately

$6 billion. Previously, he worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and as a consultant for

Andersen Consulting. Mr. DeMartini is Vice Chair of the Office Development Council at the Urban Land

Institute and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Child Research Center. He

graduated cum laude from UCLA with a BA in business economics and received his MBA with honors

from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar.

Ray Ritchey

Mr. Ritchey serves as Senior Executive Vice President. Prior to his appointment to this position in January 2016, Mr. Ritchey served as Executive Vice President, Head of our Washington, D.C. Office and National Director of Acquisitions and Development since April 1998 and Senior Vice President and Co- Manager of our Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Ritchey is responsible for all business development, leasing and marketing as well as new opportunity origination in the Washington, D.C. area. He also directly oversees similar activities on a national basis. Mr. Ritchey joined us in 1980, leading our expansion to become one of the dominant real estate firms in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. For four years prior to joining us, Mr. Ritchey was one of the leading commercial real estate brokers in the Washington, D.C. area with Coldwell Banker. He is a 1972 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a 1973 graduate of the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.

Anthony Malkin

Anthony E. Malkin is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. He joined its

predecessor entities in 1989. Mr. Malkin has been a leader in existing building energy efficiency retrofits through

coordinating the team of Clinton Climate Initiative, Johnson Controls, JLL, and Rocky Mountain Institute in a

groundbreaking project at the Empire State Building (www.esbsustainability.com). Mr. Malkin led the

development of standards for energy efficient office tenant installations which is now known as the Tenant

Energy Optimization Program at the Urban Land Institute (https://tenantenergy.uli.org/). Mr. Malkin is a board

member of APi Group Corporation, the Real Estate Roundtable and Chair of its Sustainability Policy Advisory

Committee, a member of the Climate Mobilization Advisory Board of the New York City Department of

Buildings, a member of the Urban Land Institute, member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Board of

New York, member of the Partnership for New York City’s Innovation Council, and a member of the Building

With over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, she is responsible for establishing, implementing and overseeing the company’s strategic direction. Norman Dong

Norman Dong served as the Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service (PBS) for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

As PBS Commissioner, Mr. Dong lead one of the largest and most diversified public real estate organizations in the world. Mr. Dong managed the nationwide asset management, design, construction, leasing, building management and disposal of approximately 374 million square feet of government-owned and leased space, accommodating over 1 million federal workers, and covering all 50 states, six U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Additionally, Mr. Dong oversaw an annual budget of approximately $10 billion and a workforce of almost 6,000.

Prior to joining GSA, Mr. Dong was Acting Controller at Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he was responsible for coordinating government-wide improvements in all areas of financial management, including financial reporting, improper payments, open government, and real property management.

In addition to his Federal experience, Mr. Dong also has worked at the state and local levels of government. In the District of Columbia, he held several positions, including Deputy Mayor for Operations and City Administrator under Mayor Anthony A. Williams. And in Connecticut, he served as special assistant for finance and accounting in the Office of the State Comptroller.

Mr. Dong also has experience working in the private sector. In his role as Vice President at ACS, Inc., he managed several business units that provided operational and financial solutions for state and local government clients.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a Master’s degree from the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government. He currently resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife and two sons.

Jeffrey Abramson is a partner in The Tower Companies, an award-winning, family-owned real estate development company headquartered in Rockville, MD, and recognized green building leader. He is the driving force behind the company’s well-known sustainability success. Jeffrey’s leadership and passion has been recognized and awarded by many organizations including the State of Maryland, Natural Resources Defense Council, District of Columbia Mayor’s Office, Sustainability Roundtable, Aspen Institute, United States Green Building Council, United States Environmental Protection Agency, and Washington Business Journal.

Jeffrey is a top international authority on green building technology and frequently speaks at national forums such as The Garrison Institute, Aspen Environment Forum, and Harvard Business School. In 2015, he accepted the Smart CEO Healthiest Company award on Tower’s behalf.

Jeffrey serves on the Board Trustees of the National Building Museum and co-chaired the museum’s exhibit Big and Green: Sustainable Buildings for the 21st Century and has sponsored numerous other exhibits on sustainability. He co-founded The David Lynch Foundation, which provides scholarships to those interested in learning the stress reduction technique of Transcendental Meditation, and is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Maharishi University of Management, an award-winning university specializing in consciousness-based education.

Jeffrey generously gives his guidance and resources to organizations focused on environmental sustainability, health and wellness, education, empowering women, and music and the arts. His investment in Transcendental Meditation (TM) research yielded $25 million in research grants from the National Institutes of Health on the effects of TM on cardiovascular disease. Beyond providing scholarship support to help students, women, and veterans worldwide learn TM, Jeffrey ensures that Tower staff enjoys access to TM to help them experience inner calm and clarity of mind and maximize their full potential.

Jeffrey and his wife Rona actively support scholarships of the TM program for women’s and girls’ empowerment in schools and NGOs in Africa.

Tim Helmig

Since joining Monday Properties in 2005, Tim has successfully overseen the firm’s operations,

development projects, and strategic portfolio expansion. Under his leadership, the company has

invested more than $17 billion in capital, executed transactions totaling over 43 million square

feet, and expanded the firm’s multifamily portfolio to over 8,000 units.

Tim is well known in the Washington, D.C. region for exemplary placemaking at some of the

most prominent office buildings, including the iconic development of 1812 N Moore in Arlington,

VA now home to Nestle’s U.S. headquarters.

In addition to his accomplishments across the firm’s commercial office portfolio, Tim has gained

national recognition for his role in establishing Monday Properties as a leading developer and

investor of multifamily housing. Under his counsel, Monday Properties expanded the firm’s

footprint into high growth markets along the East Coast from the broader New York City metro

area into the Southeast.

Prior to joining Monday Properties, Tim was a partner at Westfield Realty, Inc., where he led

transactions totaling approximately $5 billion.

Tim is a graduate of American University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the

Rosslyn Business Improvement District and previously served on the Board of Directors for

NAIOP’s Northern Virginia chapter.

Matt Bronfman

Matt Bronfman is a Principal and the Chief Executive Officer of Jamestown. Mr.

Bronfman joined the company in 1998 as General Counsel and in 2002 was

named Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. He became CEO in 2012,

and is responsible for managing Jamestown’s global operations and overseeing

corporate strategy and execution. Under Matt’s leadership, Jamestown has

grown its portfolio of assets in the U.S. and expanded into Latin America and

Europe.

Mr. Bronfman has more than 25 years of experience in real estate and has led the acquisition,

redevelopment and oversight for over $20 billion in projects, including Chelsea Market in New York City,

Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Industry City in Brooklyn, the Innovation and Design Building in Boston, and

Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco.

Prior to joining Jamestown, Mr. Bronfman practiced law at Holland & Knight. He currently serves on the

boards for the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the Jewish Federations of North

America, and is Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. Mr. Bronfman also serves as

President of the board of Directors for the Jamestown Charitable Foundation, which supports nonprofits

to help make cities more enjoyable places to live and work. He has been recognized as a leader in the

industry and is a recipient of the Real Estate Roundtable President’s Circle Award; New York Observer’s

100 Most Powerful People in New York Real Estate in 2013 and 2014; Commercial Observer’s Top 100

Most Powerful People in Commercial Real Estate from 2015 to 2020; Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Most

Jordan Goldstein, Gensler’s Global Director of Design and a member of the firm’s Board of Director, is an award-winning architect who uses design to help clients unravel complex problems and craft relevant solutions that evolve their businesses and brands. Katie Ross is a Senior Sustainability Manager with Cushman & Wakefield’s Sustainability Services. Joining Cushman & Wakefield in October 2012, Katie’s responsibilities include conducting LEED feasibility studies and project management, sustainability assessments, Energy Star benchmarking, and managing energy efficiency and sustainability projects. Katie also works closely with our managed portfolio on energy management tracking and compliance with local benchmarking legislation. In her tenure at the firm, Katie has helped with the certification of over 10 million SF of LEED office space. Highlighted projects include managing the LEED Platinum Recertification of World Wildlife Fund’s headquarters, which recently was selected as USGBC National Capital Region’s LEED Existing Buildings Project of the Year and overseeing the LEED for Existing Buildings: Gold certification for Portrait Building in Washington, DC., which achieved a reduction of over 30% in energy usage in one year. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Katie worked at The Cadmus Group where she served as Deputy Project Manager supporting the firm’s contract with the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Commercial and Industrial Certification program. Hans G. Nordby, Managing Director leads CoStar Market Analytics and CoStar Portfolio Strategy (formerly Property and Portfolio Research), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Mr. Nordby joined PPR as a Research Strategist in July 2002. In that role, he managed research projects for REITs, opportunity funds, plan sponsors, and commercial banks. Most recently, Mr. Nordby served as Director of Advisory Services, where he led risk management, investment strategy, and other projects for some of the world’s largest commercial real estate investors. Mr. Bunker joined Foulger-Pratt in 2009 following many years of success in private equity, multi-family development, and real estate acquisitions. Steve Smith joined Cooper Carry in 1986 and was named a Principal in 2005. Devoted to the design of multi-tenant office buildings and office campuses, Steve has completed many complex projects during his tenure at Cooper Carry, primarily in mixed-use, office and corporate facilities. A number of Steve’s projects have received recognition including his work on the NASA Langley Research Center Headquarters in Hampton, Virginia which received the 2012 NASA Blue Marble Award for Excellence in Energy and Water Management.

Steve is a member of several organizations including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and is a registered architect.

Barbara Anne (B.A.) Spignardo

Barbara Anne ("B.A.") Spignardo is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Business groups. She focuses primarily on real estate transactions and finance, as well as business and commercial transactions and lending. Before joining Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram, she was an attorney with Locke Lord LLP in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

B.A. has focused on real estate law since beginning her practice in 2002. She has represented lenders, borrowers, developers, sellers and institutional investors in sophisticated, high-dollar commercial real estate transactions including hotel, multifamily, assisted living, office and retail properties. Her work includes origination and servicing of construction and development loans, debt and equity financings, acquisitions, and dispositions.

In addition, B.A. has worked on the review and negotiation of commercial leases and the analysis and negotiation of management and franchise agreements. She also is experienced at conducting corporate governance work, including drafting and reviewing corporate resolutions and officer certificates.

Passion.

B.A. is passionate about her work in the real estate sector – taking raw land and creating something useful for people, especially structures that encourage travel and exploration. She notes that the core of real estate work is land and relationships. As a “people person,” B.A. particularly enjoys building relationships and working closely with her clients to bring a vision to fruition.

Early in her academic endeavors, B.A. found that she was most interested in discovering all of the facts, understanding various views in determining an outcome and working through to the best resolution. This, combined with her love of travel, led to her finding the perfect career in real estate law.

Partnering with her clients to ensure the most favorable outcome in any transaction, B.A. is a savvy negotiator and staunch advocate. Examples that illustrate her work include:

Assisted in representing multifamily developers in the origination of mortgage loans secured by apartment projects in Colorado and Texas.

• Represented a shopping center owner in the refinancing of multiple mortgage loans secured by regional retail centers in Fairfax County, Virginia.

• Represented a property owner and lender in sale and seller financing of a resort hotel in Arizona.

• Originated a $35 million refinancing loan for an existing full-service hotel and golf course in Fort Worth, Texas.

• Originated a seven-figure interim loan for refinancing a brand-name hotel, including a New Market Tax Credit component and construction loans for the construction of two brand-name hotels, each transaction involving the same principals and lender, which closed in rapid succession.

• Represented a lender in a construction loan for the construction of an office/warehouse space pre-leased by the GSA/State Department in Lorton, Virginia.

• Involved with forbearance in connection with a $10 million letter of credit facility and $4 million equity facility cross-defaulted and cross-collateralized, including land parcels and assignments of proceeds from various purchase and sale agreements as additional security.

Jim Halliwell is Managing Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions at

Principal Real Estate Investors and has been with the firm for 19 years. He

has been in the real estate industry for 30 years in areas of finance, asset

management, workouts and equity production. At Principal, he is

responsible for overseeing acquisitions and dispositions for the eastern half

of the United States. He has been involved in equity transactions

approximating $15 billion dollars. This investment activity includes

structuring joint ventures, forward purchases, portfolio purchases and single

asset acquisitions. These activities cover the risk spectrum from

development to stabilized properties and encompass the four main product

types of office, multifamily, industrial and retail. Mr. Halliwell is also a

member of the Investment Committee for Principal Real Estate Investors

and a contributing writer to the firm’s economic research team. Prior to

Principal, Jim was a Senior Vice President at Signet Banking Corporation

where he was in charge of the real estate workout area. He received an

MBA from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in

Finance from Georgetown University. Jim is a member of the Urban Land

Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers.

Greg Meyer serves as the Washington, DC Regional Head for Brookfield Properties, which consists of 7 million square feet located in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing day-to- day operations of Brookfield’s Greater DC portfolio. In his 28 year career, Mr. Meyer has held executive level positions with Equity Office Properties, Trammell Crow Company and Penzance Company. Mr. Meyer holds a BA degree from Hamilton College and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School. He is past President of the board of directors for the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District and sits on the board of directors for the District of Columbia Building Industry Association. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC and Federal City Council. Mr. Oliver T. Carr, III has been the President and Chief Executive Officer at Carr Properties Holdings LP since 2004. Mr. Carr co-founded Carr Capital Corporation in 1994 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer until 2005. He was responsible for managing Carr Capital, and led managing major acquisitions and financial transactions at the firm. Mr. Carr served as a Director of WashingtonFirst Bankshares, Inc. and its subsidiary WashingtonFirst Bank from December 2012 to May 17, 2013. He served as an Independent Director of Alliance Bankshares Corporation since July 2007. Mr. Carr served as a Director of Alliance Bank Corporation since August 15, 2007 and Alliance Bankshares Corporation since July 2007. He received Master of Science in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992 and his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies, with a concentration in Economics, from Trinity College in 1987.

Mr. Finan successfully manages a project from the initial planning stages through completion, with a dedicated focus on the development execution. Mr. Finan guides a team of Trammell Crow Company and brokerage professionals in securing leases at terms that maximize each asset’s value and returns and prepares them for profitable hold or exit strategies. Mr. Finan’s development, transaction and ownership experience provide a unique insight into the strategic objectives of the property owners represented.

Since returning to Trammell Crow Company in 1998, Mr. Finan has developed 3.9 million square feet of office space in the DC metropolitan area, including 2.8 million square feet of highly secure facilities and 2.1 million square feet of LEED designated space. He has been involved in 9.0 million square feet of leases.

Mr. Finan is actively involved in the procurement of Federal Government tenants in buildings being, or to be, developed by Trammell Crow Company and all matters related to such transactions. Mr. Finan combines his broad based federal government leasing experience and extensive relationships with GSA and the brokerage community to successfully meet the budgetary constraints and special uses often needed by GSA tenants. Mr. Finan serves as the national practice leader for federal development and leasing. Most recently Mr. Finan inked a 357,000 SF build-to-suit lease for the Federal Aviation Administration in Fort Worth, TX, a 330,000 SF lease with the US Department of Agriculture at Patriots Plaza III; a 225,000 SF lease with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Annex to Edgar J Hoover Building) at Patriots Plaza II and two leases with Customs & Border Protection totaling 181,000 SF at Sentinel Square I.

Alec LeFort is the Regional Director for the East Coast. As one of VTS's founding employees, Alec has been integral in growing and scaling the sales organization, while adding many of the firm's largest customers to the client roster such as TIAA-CREF, Tishman Speyer, Equity Office, Boston Properties, and many more. While helping to oversee VTS's east coast sales operations his team has grown from 2 to 15 (company now has 170 employees total), including outside and inside sales, account management, and customer support, while also becoming VTS highest revenue generating region. Alec is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (CAS '10) majoring in International Relations.
