Why This Matters

Though plenty of attention (and investment) have been paid to Oakland to the East and Silicon Valley to the South, San Francisco’s CRE market is pumping stronger and healthier than ever before.

From Hunters Point to Central SoMa and Treasure Island, construction, development, and design are happening across asset class, with an emphasis being placed on housing. The City of San Francisco’s planning department reported that in Q4 2018, more than 70,000 units were in development or under construction.

On the financing and investment front, the San Francisco market looks stable and steady, including the landmark $250M Macy’s Union Square sale to a Sand Hill Property Co. affiliate.

Tangential to the traditional CRE growth metrics, the San Francisco Giants are expanding their real estate portfolio, as are the soon-to-be San Francisco resident GS Warriors, and 21st century companies of note like WeWork, Facebook, and Uber continue to invest in the city.

Join Bisnow as we explore the state of development, construction, design, financing, and investment across San Francisco.
