Todd focuses on investment and portfolio strategy, deal procurement, financial oversight, capital partner strategy and execution, and overall portfolio management for JMA.

Todd joined JMA Ventures in January 2002 as executive vice president and general counsel and was later promoted to president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining JMA, he was an attorney with the law firms of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, LLP (San Francisco) from May 1999 to January 2002 and Allen Matkins Leck Gamble and Mallory (Los Angeles and San Francisco) from May 1997 to February 1999 where he served as JMA Venture’s primary outside counsel for six years and represented significant institutional and development clients throughout the United States.

Todd is a passionate deal maker at heart and is experienced in the structuring of joint ventures and other complex business transactions in real estate acquisition, development, leasing and financing. In his career, he has overseen in excess of $2.5 billion of real estate sales, acquisitions and financings for both JMA Ventures and other clients.

In this role, Eli is responsible for leading the strategic growth of citizenM’s real estate footprint in the US & Canada, overseeing acquisitions and investment management across the brand’s focus markets.

Alex Bastian, a San Francisco native, is the President and CEO of the Hotel Council of San Francisco. Prior to this position, he was a Special Advisor to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. Preceding that job, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff and an Assistant District Attorney for the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office for nearly twelve years.

Alex has been an active member of the State Bar of California for over thirteen years. He began his career in civil litigation before developing his skills as a highly reputed, esteemed, and successful prosecutor. Over the years, he has also been responsible for providing guidance and direction in the development of internal and external messages and media strategies. He supported the District Attorney in handling complex tasks and provided leadership in the development of policy and legal strategies. Alex spearheaded efforts to create the LADA’s first Public Data Portal, an unprecedented effort to enhance transparency by providing the public real-time office data and filing rates. In San Francisco, Alex served three administrations in various capacities, beginning as an Assistant District Attorney in the Criminal Division, and rising in the ranks to ultimately working as the Deputy Chief of Staff. Alex was hired as a prosecutor by then – San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris. Alex’s experience in policy, strategy, communications, and legal matters have assisted the District Attorneys with whom he has worked to advance public safety.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He speaks five languages, including: English, Spanish, French, Russian and Armenian (both dialects). He has been published, both locally and nationally, on topics discussing gentrification, human rights, history revision, and genocide. He has often appeared in local, national, and international media outlets, dealing with high profile matters.

As the Director of Wireless Solutions in the NorCal region, Luz collaborates with regulatory bodies, commercial real estate & hospitality proprietors, engineers, and visionary developers. Mr. Peruri has been involved in over $ 5 billion in transactions during his career and over $1 billion in transactions while at Oxford. He is involved in multiple facets of the business including investor relations, deal origination, acquisitions underwriting, due diligence, project financing, project design, entitlements/planning, construction, and property operations. He is responsible for investment opportunities across the real estate spectrum and also in the corporate private equity area. Prior to joining Oxford Capital Group, LLC, Mr. Peruri worked in acquisitions and asset management at Sam Zell’s Equity International, focused primarily on real estate related platform investments in South America and Asia. Mr. Peruri began his career working in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley in New York City. Mr. Peruri graduated with an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, was a recipient of the Pension Real Estate Association Scholarship and the Robert Toigo Fellowship, and served as teaching assistant to Professor Jeremy Siegel. He also holds a B.S. in Finance from the College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduating with Highest Honors and awarded the Bronze Tablet, and completed the yearlong General Course program at the London School of Economics.

Eric Price is the Commercial Studio Director for Lowney Architecture and has over 20 years of experience working on a wide variety of hospitality and retail projects throughout the Bay Area. He is currently working through three hotel projects, and most recently finished the new Moxy Hotel in downtown Oakland – which was the first completed modular hotel for the Moxy brand in the US and the first big hospitality project for the city in decades. Eric understands that the hallmark of exceptional retail and hotel design is that user experience is paramount, and this serves as a critical driver in all his projects.

Cass Calder Smith

Cass Calder Smith established the architectural firm that bears his name in 1992. Born in 1961, Smith

earned his Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. A native of

New York City, he now resides and leads design offices in both San Francisco and New York.

Smith is recognized nationally for his wide range and large quantity of built projects – especially

restaurants. Firmly based in the modernist idiom, Smith draws inspiration from history’s great

architects, grand cities, visionary artists, and notable filmmakers. His firm includes a staff of twenty,

including three partners with commissions from the San Francisco Bay Area to New York, and from

Mexico to the Middle East. Timeless design with an attention to materiality and detail are

characteristics of many projects.

In additions to architectural practice, Smith is an adjunct instructor at UC Berkeley, chaired the Civic

Design Review Committee on The San Francisco Arts Commission for 8 years, and is a Trustee on

the Board for the Djerassi Residents Artists Program. He and his work have won numerous awards

and have been recognized in The New York Times, Architectural Record, The Wall Street Journal,

Metropolis, Dwell, and Interior Design Magazine, among others.

Jason Dries-Daffner

As a licensed and practicing architect, Jason serves as MBH Architect’s Chief Operating Officer. His built work spans eight countries across Asia, Central America and North America. He has delivered successful hospitality projects for such brands as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Montage, Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott. Jason is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute and serves as an Advisory Board member for UC Berkeley’s Berkeley Real Estate Alumni Association (BREAA).
