One of the Bay Area’s fastest growing markets, life sciences, is also one of the most consistent. Life sciences employment grew in the Bay Area by 33% from 2001 to 2016 and in the last 10 years employment has grown about 54%, the most of any life sciences market.
In 2018, more than $3.6 billion in VC funding was poured into life science companies in the Bay Area, which was more than double the $1.7 billion of funding in 2017.
Along with rapid growth in employment and VC funding, real estate vacancies aimed at the biotech market are around 2 percent and the cost of these spaces hovers around the $60 per sq. ft. range.
Join Bisnow as we explore the myriad developments on the Peninsula happening thanks to a scorching hot topic and one of the Bay Area’s most burgeoning industries and trendiest CRE submarkets – Life Sciences.
