Andrew Purcell, Global Head of Real Estate for Syngenta with over 30 years experience in Property. Previous roles have included European and Global roles with BP and Honeywell. Working at Board level to set real estate strategy to modernise and maximum real estate to support business strategies. Away from Real Estate Andrew is a father of two sons aged 11 and 13 who keep him active and challenged.

As Chief Executive Officer of Europe, based in London, Paul leads the expansion of Harrison Street’s European strategies and is responsible for overseeing and growing the Firm’s team of professionals across the UK and Europe. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Paul was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer at Round Hill Capital, a real estate investment and asset management firm with a global footprint. While at Round Hill Capital, he managed a business with a $8+ billion portfolio as well as a team of 260 people across 15 offices in 14 countries. He has overseen investment and development projects, regulatory approvals, complex refinancings and capital raises in multiple European locations across a wide array of real estate asset sectors including retail, commercial, residential and student housing. Prior to joining Round Hill, Paul served as a Partner at Aggmore Group, where he was responsible for raising and deploying over €500 million of new capital and developed JV partnerships with European operators in the residential and commercial real estate space. Earlier he served as Chief Operating Officer at North Bridge Capital Partners Ltd. he began his career at KPMG LLP as a senior manager in the transaction services department. Paul earned a BA in Accounting and Financial Analysis from Newcastle University. he is ACA qualified and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

As Operations Director for Science and Health at the £2bn global construction services company, ISG, Andrew is responsible for leading technically complex new build and refurbishment projects across the healthcare and life sciences sectors. Offering services that range from major new construction builds to the repurposing of existing commercial buildings, Andrew’s experience has seen him lead key projects at the University of Oxford Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and Centre for Neural Circuits. Notable recent ISG life science schemes include the £100m+ Biomedical Research and £70m Molecular Sciences Research Hubs for Imperial College London, the £170m Institute of Neurology and Dementia Research facility for University College London (UCL) and world-leading facilities for the Kadans Stevenage Innovation Hub and Achilles Therapeutics. Andrew takes great pride in delivering tech-led facilities that are not only built to evolve with the industry, but that also have a direct and tangible impact on science innovation and progress.

Eugene is a partner at architects Sheppard Robson. He has over 20 years’ experience of designing cutting-edge spaces for science and education, which are diverse in scope and scale. Much of Eugene’s work is informed by the exacting standards and pace of change required for scientific discovery. His projects deliver the high levels of precision and carefully controlled environments that scientific research demands, whilst also creating architecturally uplifting spaces. This approach has resulted in several of Eugene’s projects receiving prestigious S-LAB Awards.

Tim leads the science business area, across the UKIMEA region for Arup. He leads on strategy and

business development, maintains relationships with clients and manages a portfolio of projects.

Tim is a chartered engineer and experienced team leader, having led multi-discipline teams in

delivering engineering solutions on complex highly serviced buildings from concept design phases

through to fully coordinated detail design and construction.

He has been involved in science buildings from his first project over 28 years ago, working on the

design and construction of a facility to produce injectable vaccines. As well as other manufacturing

projects experience, Tim has been involved in the design of many research and development

laboratories for a range of science users and scales of project. These have been for private clients,

government institutes and higher education establishments.

Tim thrives in solving client’s challenges bringing a wealth of experience to provide robust, energy

efficient and sustainable design solutions, applying his knowledge of construction, commissioning

and maintenance.

Trevor is a Preconstruction Director within the Construction Business Unit of Bouygues UK, based in London. A Chartered Surveyor with a keen interest in innovation and sustainability, he has amassed more than 40 years’ experience across all aspects of the construction industry, including Higher Education and Healthcare. Trevor now spearheads Bouygues’ growing presence in the Science and Research sector. He has played a key role in helping to finesse the Company’s business strategy, working closely with laboratory and clean room specialists Bouygues Energies & Services and development management colleagues at Linkcity to develop and promote a distinct and differentiated offering to the market.

Under Henry’s leadership, King’s Cross is bringing forward a range of office spaces to lease. These include space at Western Transit Shed, Two Pancras Square and The Jellicoe, where the neighbourhood is delivering new purpose-built flexible workspace in partnership with Fora (formerly The Office Group) as it continues to evolve its product offer to office occupiers.

Henry brings almost two decades of experience and leadership across commercial real estate investment, development, leasing and asset management, including roles as Head of UK and Vice President for Offices, Retail and Life Sciences at Oxford Properties Group. During his almost 10-year tenure, he played a pivotal role in growing the company’s office and retail platform in the UK.

Rajnika is a sustainability professional with extensive experience in effecting change and

innovation to deliver company sustainability goals and business models. Rajnika has been

working in the Sustainability field for 19 years and is currently at the Francis Crick Institute, a

biomedical research centre. Her experience spans various industries including life science,

nuclear, transport, construction, agriculture, waste and national government. Rajnika is an

Advisory Board member to the Camden Climate Change Alliance, the Laboratory Efficiency

Action Network and the Sustainable European Laboratory network.

Rob is a Design Director at AKT II, responsible for leading a diverse range of projects, both in the UK and internationally, requiring a holistic focus across the many facets of design.

Rob has led many of the practices most complex mixed use developments, with a keen motivation for the higher education and research sector, which has seen him lead some of the UK’s most notable research developments including the Francis Crick Institute, UCL East and Merck’s new European HQ at Belgrove House.

Rob is a leading voice in how cities and buildings can accommodate future trends where the disciplines of life science, education and research combine with the already changing landscape of workplace design, to produce evolving innovation districts critical to the economic future of London and beyond.

As head of Mace’s Life Sciences Construction business, Rob leads on large-scale, award-winning projects including AstraZeneca’s global R&D Centre in Cambridge, St Bartholomew’s and London Hospitals and Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing capability. Most recently developers Oxford University and investor L&G appointed Rob to deliver two new buildings at Begbroke Science park.

Rob works closely with multidisciplinary project teams and the science community to deliver pioneering facilities that enable clients to compete for the best researchers, scientists, and funding.

Richard is a Director at Buro Happold and leads their UK Science & Technology Sector work. One of Richard’s current focuses is on helping research organisations to meet net-zero carbon whilst maintaining the flexible facilities that are so important in science. He has led the design of numerous major projects including The Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub, The London Institute of Medical Sciences and is currently delivering Europe’s largest multi-let speculative laboratory building.

Claudia is an Operations professional with extensive experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Project Management. Claudia has been working in the Life Sciences field for 14 years, and is currently at Autolus, a CAR T cell therapy company. Her experience spans various industries including biotech, traditional pharma, military, and FMCG industries. Claudia is currently Executive Director of Cell Manufacturing, focusing on Operational Readiness of Autolus’ New Stevenage Facility. Previously she was responsible for Autolus’ Cell Manufacturing Operations in CGT Catapult, and Site Supply Operations before that.

Kasia Averall joined Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult in November 2016, tasked with establishing the pharmaceutical quality system for the new multiproduct, multi-collaborator ATMP manufacturing center in Stevenage, UK. The facility was successfully licensed by the UK MHRA in August 2018, and Kasia now leads the quality assurance team supporting a variety of cell and gene therapy manufacturers. Before joining Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, Kasia worked in both quality assurance and regulatory affairs over a range of dosage forms. She has a degree in natural sciences (biological) from the University of Cambridge.

Chris leads the Life Science business at JLL that focuses on the science, technology and innovation sector. Through experience working with NHS Trust’s, academic and research institutions, local authorities, and a diverse set of private sector clients covering private equity, institutional capital and sovereign wealth, Chris is recognised as an industry leading expert on both the UK and European markets.

Chris’ responsibilities are focused on providing strategic recommendations on a range of development and investment opportunities comprising development consultancy, appraisals and transactional advice. In addition he works closely with all aspects of the occupier business to find tailored solutions to their needs across the full spectrum of science and technology industry.

Olivia Drew is a Transactions Manager for Real Estate UK (RE-UK), a business which forms part of Real Estate & Private

Markets (REPM) business within UBS Asset Management (UBS-AM). In addition, Olivia oversees RE-UK’s Life Sciences

investments and is the lead Investment Manager on Forge Life Science Unit Trust, a dedicated Life Sciences vehicle.

Olivia also has responsibilities across the REPM business on ESG strategies, supporting the growth of the sustainable

product shelf and integrating ESG policies across the platform.

Olivia joined UBS-AM in December 2017 as a member of the RE-UK team, providing support to several Funds and

segregated mandates within the UK platform. Prior to joining UBS-AM, Olivia worked at M&G Investments (2014–2017),

first as a graduate trainee, and then as an analyst specialising in long lease property funds.

Olivia is a CFA charterholder, and also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

Mike is UK editor of Bisnow. Before this, alongside three friends he bought pan-European property mag EuroProperty out of non-existence and re established it before selling the business to PropertyEU. Prior to that he was editor of Property Week, and has also worked for Estates Gazette.

Sage Revell holds the position of Counsel in Brown Rudnick’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Global Life Sciences Practice Group. She advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including national and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity, corporate re-organisations, and other general commercial matters. Sage works closely with Brown Rudnick’s US offices as corporate counsel in transactions involving UK concerns.

In January 2021, Sage was published in the Global University Venturing 2020 Annual Review with her article “Life sciences in the time of Covid-19 and its impact on the real estate sector”.

Ascend is backed by Monograph Capital, a US/UK-based venture team with a global approach to fostering biotech ecosystems and accelerating the development of transformative medicines. Freddie also holds a position on the investment team at Monograph. Prior to Ascend and Monograph he was a Partner at Syncona, a London based life science focussed venture firm, where he was involved in a number of investments, most notably Clade Therapeutics and Quell Therapeutics where he held Board Observer roles. He was part of the founding team of Quell and spent a year heading up operations within the company to help the launch. Prior to Syncona he was a member of the Investment Team at the Wellcome Trust, which is responsible for the management of its £32 billion global investment portfolio. Freddie holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh.

Jessica collaborates on establishing Longfellow’s strategic direction, identifying acquisition opportunities, and negotiating and structuring transactions in the Southeast. This includes building long-term relationships with research-centric organizations. Jessica serves on Longfellow’s investment committee.

Prior to joining Longfellow, Jessica held positions with the following organizations: Spectrum Properties, and Weyerhaeuser

A native of New Bern, she received her BS from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In addition, Jessica is a recipient of the TBJ’s 2016 Women in Business award, serves on the Durham YMCA advisory board and on the executive committee of Downtown Durham, Inc. Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband Jason and two children, traveling and running with friends.

Charles joined SV in 2018 and is a Senior Associate in the biotech team. He helps form and fund companies developing transformational new medicines, with a broad focus from new company creation to later stage opportunities. Charles serves as a board observer at Autifony Therapeutics, EnaraBio, Pulmocide, Imbria Therapeutics, and Mestag Therapeutics which he also helped incubate and launch.

Charles identifies and evaluates new opportunities and advises portfolio company management on strategy, fundraising, and business development. Prior to joining SV, Charles qualified as an ACA after three years at Deloitte, with a focus on Life Sciences clients including SV portfolio companies.

Alex Wright serves as Managing Director, UK for Longfellow Real Estate Partners, the largest

privately held investor and developer of life science real estate in the US with a 14+ million

square foot portfolio that includes key metros of Boston/Cambridge, New York City, San Diego,

San Francisco Bay Area, and the Research Triangle of North Carolina.

As Managing Director, Alex leads the firm’s recent expansion to the UK, which continues

Longfellow’s growth into another exciting life science market where it will further build off its

successful track record in creating vibrant life science clusters and developments.

Before his time with Longfellow, Alex was as Managing Director at Brockton Everlast where

he helped lead the company’s strategic move into life science real estate. Over a 15-year

period, he helped the business grow from a start-up to an established and successful UK real

estate investor, with varied responsibilities across acquisition, asset management, strategy,

leasing, financing, and key customer/stakeholder relationships.

Born and raised in London, Alex is a graduate of the University of Manchester Institute of

Science & Technology.

Rob Burborough is a partner at 3PM with over 25 years in the science and technology sector. He is a specialist in this sector, and has led projects from all science backgrounds. Rob has collaborated extensively with science park owners in the UK and USA (including Discovery Park, Sandwich; The Oxford Science Park, Oxford; Granta Park, Great Abington; Babraham Institute, Babraham; Biomed, Granta Park, Cambridge; Chesterford Research Park, Saffron Walden).

More recently, Rob has been engaged by several organisations to advise at a strategic business case and operational execution level for private companies in respect of the investment opportunities, governance and execution strategies, and ecosystem formation for investment and future growth potential. He has been engaged to act as strategic advisor in support of the operational execution of the growth plans of venture-capital-funded private companies in the pre-revenue commercial science sector as they move from a new-company to a mature business model.

Rob has been appointed as expert panel advisor to the ISCF (Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund), focusing on core innovation and energy-efficient buildings, and is considered an industry expert in the project, programme and portfolio management of complex science and technology projects throughout the UK and globally.

Rob continues to work very closely with the UK research councils (including UK Research and Innovation, Innovate UK and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council).

Jenny Hammarlund is a senior managing director at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Based in London, she leads the real estate investment group in the UK and Europe as well as global strategy and value creation. She is responsible for overseeing investment activity, strategy and overall portfolio management, and she also led the integration of Cadillac Fairview’s international investment team into OTPP in 2024.

Hammarlund has over 25 years of experience in private equity globally, primarily focused on real estate. She previously held positions as managing director at H.I.G. Capital and director at KKR, where she was focused on sourcing and executing real estate investments across Europe. Hammarlund's résumé also includes stints as director at Värde Partners in London and as vice president at Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners in New York, where she was focused on real estate investments in the U.S. She speaks four languages.

Neil Alford is a Materials Scientist. He graduated from St Andrews University and spent 3 years working in SE Asia and S America in the Oil Exploration Industry on wildcat rigs and then worked for ICI for 13 years. His current position is Associate Provost (academic planning) and his current research work on functional materials led to the development of the first room temperature, earth’s field MASER (a Microwave laser). His role at Imperial involves the planning and development of the estate including the development of the new campus at White City. In 2013 he was awarded the MBE for services to Engineering.

Cllr Stephen Cowan has been Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham since 2014.

He has pioneered multiple initiatives to help make the borough a leading hub for STEM and creative industries, particularly through its partnership with Imperial College and unique Industrial Strategy.

At the heart of the strategy, which aims to make the borough the best place in Europe to do business, is the regeneration of White City, now a world-leading innovation district able to compete with the best in the 21st century”.

Claire joined Stanhope in September 2018 from Grosvenor Britain & Ireland where lead the Asset

Management team for the Belgravia portfolio. There she was accountable for delivering the long term

strategy to create distinctive and vibrant neighbourhoods which attract footfall, spend and offer

prosperity to their tenants. Having moved around the Grosvenor business over ten years, and setting

up the London Estate investment team, she has stakeholder management expertise, strategic

planning experience, major change credentials and can point to significant operational success

heading a £1bn business.

Claire leads the Asset Management team at Stanhope, a portfolio of just under 3 million sq ft and

£2.5bn of assets under management. Most notably, Claire has focused on the recently transformed

White City area to deliver the strategic vision and further build on the areas commercial success and

established reputation as a vibrant, innovative and creative part of London.

Claire is a member of Real Estate Balance and a Mentor for Stanhope initiative Mentoring Circle.

Charles is a Director at Stanhope. Since joining in 1989, he has developed a specialism in the ‘front end’ of the development process including identification and securing new opportunities, managing all aspects of pre-development including planning as well as general de-risking projects to enable implementation to take place. Charles has been involved with some major mixed use projects including Ruskin Square, Television Centre and the Royal Albert Dock. Currently, Charles is heading up the British Library project in its early stages. As a result he has developed a specific interest and expertise in the Life Science sector. He is a Chartered Surveyor, has looked after PR and communications for Stanhope and was an advisor to the Photographers' Gallery.

Tom has 25 years’ experience in commercial real estate and heads up Savills UK Science group. He specialises in advising science related occupiers needing R&D, lab and manufacturing space, as well as landlords and developers looking to deliver specialist science related space across the UK.

Tom has advised on the acquisition of more than 600,000 sq ft of space over the last 3 years for the likes of Autolus, Quell Therapeutics, DNAe, Achilles Therapeutics, Avacta, Freeline Therapeutics and Omass.

Barbara is responsible for the development of the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus at UKRI-

STFC. She has worked alongside the Joint Venture partners to establish Harwell as an exemplar

public-private partnership model that has driven economic growth, fostered national and

international collaborations, attracted inward investment and advanced the frontiers of science.

Barbara has developed the cluster model at the STFC Harwell and Daresbury Science & Innovation

Campuses and oversees their development. She has established a high profile for the Space,

HealthTec and EnergyTec Clusters and is overseeing the development of two new clusters in Digital

and Quantum.

Barbara joined STFC in 2010 as Executive Director of Business Development. Successes included the

creation of International Space Innovation Centre (now Satellite Application Catapult) at Harwell and

of the High Performance Computing Centre (Hartree) at Daresbury.

Barbara joined STFC from EADS Astrium (now Airbus DS), where she managed Business Development

across Europe for the €3.2 billion joint ESA / EU Earth Observation Programme for Global Monitoring

of Environment and Security (now Copernicus) and secured a number of large contracts. She

graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of York, completed her PhD in Artificial

Intelligence and Space Radar Imaging at the University of Sheffield and holds a Certificate in

Management from the Open University.

Natalie Harmony creates innovative environments that give companies the space to focus on bringing life-changing therapies and medicines to market.

Having originally trained in Branding and PR, she has since developed a unique skill set that spans communications, strategic leadership, computer systems, and business development.

Throughout her career, Natalie has managed multiple seven-figure development projects. Her most recent work includes the design and build of R&D and manufacturing facilities in the UK and US. This project involved successfully upgrading a 1920s-era commercial building to accommodate complex mechanical systems that exceed regulatory standards.

Natalie is currently the Programme Manager for Achilles Therapeutics, where she leads the design and programme management of a rapidly growing real estate portfolio.

Araminta is the Director of Campus Development at Cambridge University Health Partners (CUHP). Araminta works across CUHP and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus to develop the community and strategic relationships, while also promoting future expansion of the site in partnership with Liberty Property Trust and Countryside Properties.

Araminta joined CUHP from the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine, where she developed new collaborations across academia, the NHS and industry as Research Initiatives Manager. Prior to this, she held an NIHR Research Fellowship at the Institute of Cancer Research, London, initiating a clinical trial in breast cancer risk and developing novel MRI technology. Araminta has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bath.

Martino is Chairman of Discovery Park and an Independent Consultant, based in

Manchester.

From June 2011- July 2017, Martino was the first CEO of the Stevenage Bioscience

Catalyst an ambitious concept to develop an Incubator and Accelerator, followed by a

world class Science Park for the Life Sciences sector

Having been CEO at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, Martino was recently

Entrepreneur in Residence at UMIP, Manchester (2017-2020) and was working part-

time with the NHS in Manchester, also as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the same

time.

Martino has a PhD in Biochemistry from Cardiff University and spent 4 years at

Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX in Cardiovascular research. Martino joined

Amersham International in 1991 and subsequently went on to manage the R&D

Technology Transfer Group, based in Cardiff and developing high throughput

screening technologies for the Pharmaceutical sector.

Following the merger of Amersham with Pharmacia Biotech, Martino became the

Science Director for the Cardiff site, Martino then became a Business Manager for

Manchester Biotech Ltd. and subsequently Manchester Innovation Ltd. in June 1999.

When the Universities of Manchester and UMIST merged, he became Managing

Director of UMIC and MICL and was also a Board member of UKBI (UK Business

Incubation).

Martino has also been a Board member of the Hertfordshire LEP. Most recently,

Martino was appointed to the Board of BIONOW, the Northern Trade Organization for

Life Sciences, as a non- Executive Director. He is currently Chairman of Discovery

Park Ltd., VisusNano Ltd and Evidential Ltd.

Brian’s passion lies in bringing HDR’s vast network of global talent to the technically complex projects he manages across the globe. From Canada to China, Brian has led the management and delivery on some of the largest science and technology, healthcare, and education projects in the world. Brian's understanding of excellence in architectural design combined with his project management and communication skills are critical to the successful delivery of projects for clients. He has managed teams across many different range of procurement models ranging from standard stipulated sum contracts to complex DB, DBF and DBFM projects. He was most recently responsible for successfully managing delivery of key aspects of the 480,000 m2 new R&D Center for one of the largest information and communication technology companies in the world.

Brian graduated from University College Dublin, Ireland, in 1989 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He has been a member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and a registered architect since 1995.

Kas Mohammed is the Vice President of the Digital Buildings division at Schneider Electric in the UK and Ireland. His team work within both new and existing buildings across Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Education segments to deliver systems which ensure optimal efficiency and user comfort across all stages of the building life cycle. Kas is passionate about improving sustainability across the built environment and reducing carbon emissions in our sector.

Dr Kate Barclay MBA CEng FIChemE, has a portfolio career working across high impact Science and Technology talent programmes including UK Bioindustry Association, Cell and Gene Therapy and High Value Manufacturing Catapults, and is a Non-Exec Director for the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. As a Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the IChemE, she has spent over 25 years in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry as a Senior Leader in Global R&D leading scientific project teams in commercial and clinical manufacture of parenteral, solid dose and novel device technologies. Kate has been instrumental in developing apprenticeships and Technical Education, leading the Life Sciences and Industrial Sciences Trailblazer employer group, and has won multiple national awards for the quality of apprenticeships. More recently she has been involved in developing innovative, immersive training technologies for manufacturing processes and industrial digitalisation future skills training programmes. Outside of work Kate volunteers as a Careers and Enterprise Advisor, is a Governor of North Hertfordshire Further Education College and active science industry ambassador on Hertfordshire LEP Skills and Employment Board.

Malcolm has a BSc in Pharmacology/Biochemistry and PhD in Neuropharmacology and has over 70 publications including articles on the interface between industry and academia. He currently manages GSK’s Academic Liaison, with staff in the US and UK. His role involves close liaison with several groups outside the company including Government Departments, Research and Funding Councils. He sits on many external bodies including BBSRC Council, HEFCE REF Main Panel A, UKRI Infrastructure Advisory Committee and several UK University Department advisory groups. Malcolm chairs several groups including the Diamond (Synchotron) Industrial Advisory Board, the Science Industry Partnership and the ABPI academic liaison group.

Dr Kath Mackay is Director of Life Sciences for Bruntwood SciTech - the UK’s leading property provider dedicated to driving the growth of the UK science and technology sector. She has a keen interest in growing the life science industry, and businesses and infrastructure within the sector, ensuring the UK is the best place to establish and scale a life science organisation.

As Director of Life Sciences, Kath is responsible for developing the life science vision and strategy for Bruntwood SciTech, external affairs, and developing sector specific innovation services and investment support for the life sciences business across our network of campuses. Kath also oversees Alderley Park - the UK’s largest single- site life science campus - the new £310m Birmingham Health Innovation Campus, and Citylabs in Manchester, the world-leading health innovation and precision medicine campus in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Kath joined Bruntwood SciTech from the executive board of Innovate UK where she led the team responsible for growing and scaling businesses working in the biomedical, health, agriculture and food sectors, creating and delivering a £700m portfolio of infrastructure, Catapults, grant and loan investments. Kath is also Non-Executive Director of the Northern Health Science Alliance, the North of England’s health partnership, UKRI’s National Biofilms Innovation Centre, and Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership.

Vincenzo is a real estate partner specialising in science and technology parks and life sciences and heads up our sci-tech sector focusing on investment work. His client base includes a number of US and UK based life science companies active within the Golden Triangle and he has a particular expertise in the development, acquisition and management of science parks advising investors, landlords, tenants and managing agents. Vincenzo also regularly advises owner occupiers, having acted for Autolus in connection with its move to MediaWorks.

Sue leads a dynamic programme of research, working closely with academics and sector

specialists. Much of her work is focused on the real estate implications of the science and

technology sector. This includes the Bidwells Life Science 2030 research programme which

encompasses a study undertaken in conjunction with YouGov investigating the location drivers

of R&D businesses.

Sue’s academic background spans the finance, planning and environmental fields. She started

her career in academia working on planning and urban design publications at the Center for

Urban Policy Research, Rutgers University, USA.

She holds an MSc in Property Investment & Finance from Bayes Business School, an MS in

Planning and Urban Policy from Rutgers University and a BSc in Rural Environment Studies.

Oliver is a Partner of Hawkins\Brown and one of the leading architects working in the Science and Technology sector. His experience ranges from state-of-the-art research institutes through to speculative facilities for developers. He thrives on the variety and challenge that the sector offers. Oliver’s contribution to the wider industry includes active membership and participation in several organisations, including as Chair of Designers for Science which promotes best practice and emerging trends in the sector.

Gus Wiseman is the Deputy Director for Investment Opportunities at the Department for International Trade, leading their work to identify strategic investment opportunities and promote them to global investors. Gus has worked for DIT for seven years, including a posting as Country Director in Kenya where he helped establish the UK-Africa Investment Summit held in January 2020. During the pandemic, Gus was seconded to work on procurement of medical supplies.

Sir Robert Lechler has recently stepped down from his roles as Senior Vice-President (Health) at King’s College London and Executive Director of King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre and President of the Academy of Medical Science.

He is currently Professor of Immunology at King’s College London, Co-chair of SC1, a life sciences cluster in South East London, Non-Executive Director on the Board of

Quell Therapeutics Limited, Non-Executive Director on the Board of MiNA Tx, Chairs

an External Advisory Board for Birmingham Health Partners, and Chairs the research

committee of the Royal College of Surgeons.

He is a strong advocate of the Academic Health Science Centre model of university-

healthcare partnerships. His clinical and research career have been focused on the

pursuit of clinical transplantation tolerance. He worked in in vitro and in vivo rodent

models and recently has helped to define biomarkers of clinical tolerance. This work

has led to first in man trials of cell therapy to promote immune tolerance in

recipients of kidney and liver organ transplants.

In 2012 Robert was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday honours for

Services to Academic Medicine and in 2015 he was elected as the President of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, a post he held until 2020. In addition, Robert was a Founding Board Member of MedCity, was a Board Member of the Crick Institute, and is still leading a project for the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology.
