As high-end condominiums, luxury apartments,
high-rise hotels, towering office buildings and chic retail and restaurants are being built and delivered at an astonishing pace, what opportunities are still left in Chicago's CRE market for you to take advantage of? Up-and-coming neighborhoods, that are now under a new federal program designed to bring investment and development into
the region, create incredible opportunity for savvy investors
The Opportunity Zones tax incentive was included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act President Donald Trump signed into law in December 2017. But the idea stems from a 2015 white paper from the Economic Innovation Group, a D.C.-based think tank that is now working closely with states to help implement the program. The law gives tax benefits to investors that place unrealized capital gains into Opportunity Funds, which then invest in Opportunity Zones, a host of census tracts local governments decide have the most need and can best support the investment.
The City of Chicago has recommended to the State a total of 133 census tracts within the City limits, which is the pro-rata share of the City’s low-income census tracts across the entire state, as well the Michael Reese Hospital site. Join Bisnow and our all-star panelists this January as we dive deep into what the future holds for Chicago and answer the most important questions around
Opportunity Zones. And, as always, bring plenty of business cards! Please email
