As President – Europe, Victoria leads the European business for Cortland, where she is responsible for the strategic vision and growth of the business as well as ensuring the business delivers for our customers and clients. Victoria brings a wealth of experience in the real estate and construction sectors, having held positions spanning investment, development, business operations, finance and capital markets transactions.

Prior to joining Cortland Victoria worked at Lendlease Europe in a number of roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and most recently as Managing Director - Investment Management.

Victoria holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts (Economics and History) from University of Queensland in Australia

Dan Batterton head of the Build to Rent Fund at LGIM Real Assets responsible for the design and execution of fund strategy.

Dan has over 20+ years’ experience in the property sector and his exceptional understanding of portfolio strategy have been utilised to design L&G’s long-term acquisition and operational strategy for the sector. He leads the specialist BTR team at L&G that is currently delivering around 5,000 new BTR homes.

Joining Legal & General in February 2007 as Business Development Manager, Dan’s responsibility was to create new fund ideas and identify areas of business growth within LGP.

Previously Dan was an Associate Director at IPD Ltd where he was responsible for the UK portfolio analysis service to a collection of major institutions. He spent 9 years at IPD analysing drivers of historic fund performance and discussing strategies that will influence future returns. Whilst at IPD he also developed IRIS, IPD’s forward looking income and risk analysis service.

Niall is Head of Acquisitions at Watkin Jones Group with overall responsibility for Build to Rent, Co-living and Student Accommodation acquisitions across the Group. Niall has transacted over £1bn of real estate across the UK since joining Watkin Jones in 2017 including some notable deals within the sector. Niall has over 12 years’ experience working in the real estate industry and has been involved in the emerging Build to Rent sector since its inception. Prior to joining Watkin Jones Group he was Investment Manager at Fizzy Living, an ADIA backed platform that developed and operated a major Build to Rent portfolio in London. He has also held positions at Mill Group and Deloitte Real Estate. Niall is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Investment Property Forum’s Residential Investment Committee.

George Dyer is the Group Investment Director and Head of Divestment at Watkin Jones Group where he has responsibility for the Group’s divestment and asset management activities. George has more than 12 years’ experience working in real estate and was previously one of the partners leading Cushman and Wakefield’s pan-European student accommodation capital markets team. He also has extensive fund management experience through his time at Schroders, Invesco Real Estate and as Head of UK Investment Management for GSA Group.

Alex Joined WJ in 2010 & was promoted to the role of Group Investment Director in 2013. He is a chartered surveyor (MRICS) and previously spent 6 years in the Savills Residential Investment team specialising in brokerage, consultancy and valuation across all residential asset classes.

Damien Sharkey is Managing Director of independent developer, HUB. He is keenly involved in all aspects of the business, leading the development process of its current £3.3bn pipeline from acquisition and funding through design, consultation, planning, procurement, and delivery to completion. An architect by background, Damien remains passionate about design and ensures maximum value through bespoke and thoughtful design, creativity, technical accuracy, and efficient delivery for all of HUB’s portfolio.

Tani, the founder and chief executive of Woodbourne Group, is responsible for leading the

company's operations and management. His role involves shaping the group’s strategic vision,

implementing long-term plans, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of directors. To date, Tani

has effectively acquired, secured planning, developed, and monetised over 1.19 million sq ft of

real estate across all major use-classes. This includes skilfully negotiating intricate financial

arrangements with local planning authorities to successful exits with S&P 500 listed pension

funds and government-funded entities, achieving benchmark returns.

Tani possesses expertise in land assembly, planning, feasibility, risk analysis, and pre leasing of

proposed developments and refurbishments. His ability to engage influencers, originating and

syndicating deals, along with a can-do attitude, seamlessly integrates into the Group's expanding

development pipeline. Recently, he established Woodbourne Ventures, driving diverse

investment deals from Fintech to Cleantech and Web3. The company now strategically focuses

on asset-backed businesses, leveraging its property expertise. Tani has played a crucial role in

steering the company towards a concentration on life sciences and entry into the children's care

market.

Tani is a dedicated advocate for Birmingham, actively supporting the city through philanthropy.

His involvement extends to various international charitable projects, and he participates in local

charity initiatives whenever possible. Tani has been featured in Forbes, Yahoo Finance, and BBC

News and is a regular speaker at global family-office conferences, real estate, and private equity

forums, providing valuable insights into property, finance, and investing.

Michael Howard is the Owner and Managing Director of the North West’s (UK) award-winning Property Management Firm. During the 10 years of practice, Michael has become a keynote speaker for the property industry and is recognised as a Build-to-Rent (BtR) / Private Rented Sector (PRS) Specialist. This has led to the appointment of an advisory role by Manchester Life and the UKAA.

Laura has been dedicated to Sales and Customer Relationship Management for over 15 years working hand-in-hand with her clients to find practical solutions to real life challenges. Laura joined Quadient in 2020 to launch the UK Parcel Locker Solutions team within the BTR and PBSA Sectors. She specialises in parcel management across all asset classes. Laura is a member of Women in Property and frequently networks and shares experiences with industry experts across several sectors.

With over 12 years’ experience working in London, Yorkshire, Berlin and Birmingham, Tomasz leads on all things Build to Rent within Bond Bryan, in a nationally-focussed role. As a specialist in regeneration projects, he has also spent time working in Development Management for an Asian-based fund which was investing in London during the infancy days of the Build to Rent sector.

Through his experience of working within both client and consultant roles, his position at Bond Bryan has a special focus on bridging the gap between the traditional norms of architect and developer. These duties include identifying land suitable for BTR (both on and off market), working closely with investors – to ensure that maximum viability for BTR can be attained on sites - and acting as lead architect on projects both within the private and public sectors. Tomasz led the design of The Meridian BTR scheme on agateway site in Sheffield and has active sites throughout the UK, including several Pre-Planning schemes in Birmingham and is leading on a Masterplan for the Hagley Road which is being integrated into the Birmingham Future City Plan 2040. Tomasz also sits on the Colmore Row BID ‘Outstanding Places' Working Group and the Design Review Panel for the Jewellery Quarter.

He has a special interest in the role which BTR can play as an alternative model for housing delivery and is currently involved with bringing BTR investment models to support schemes for town centre regeneration and suburban locations using DfMA and MMC solutions.

Martin has over 30 years’ real estate industry experience, specialising in the delivery of affordable housing in both the public and private sectors. Alongside Darryl Flay, he was a founding figure of the UK’s build-to-rent sector, winning various awards from the RIBA and Sunday Times.

Pioneering achievements included delivering the first build-to-rent development to use offsite manufacturing and the first to include discount market rent homes. Among other skills, Martin brings extensive advocacy and policy experience and is passionate about ensuring social value remains at the heart of rental developments.

Martin is a member of the London Urban Transformation Commission, and previously sat on the Department for Communities and Local Government’s build-to-rent subcommittee. He is also a longstanding member of the British Property Federation’s residential board.
