The Atlanta region is home to 57 colleges and universities, with more than 250,000 students enrolled annually. These universities represent major economic drivers for the region, and naturally, facilitate a great deal of real estate activity. A recent Berkadia report named both Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State within the top 10 fastest growing flagship universities nationally, and projected Georgia as third highest in enrollment growth projections in the next five years. Universities in the area are planning major projects and expansions as a result, and the student housing development community is looking to capitalize, with creative locations in consideration for denser regions of the metro area. With tuition costs continuing to rise, and applications on a national level beginning to decline, this event will detail future risk in the student housing sector, aligning with student demand, and best practices in operating these properties efficiently. It will also discuss public-private partnerships for university development, funding sources for major projects, and creating campus environments that can attract the highest caliber of potential students.
