Jason Kaufman is Senior Vice President of Investments & Development at Silverstein Properties, Inc., member of the Investment Committee, co-founder of Silverstein Capital Partners and head of the Opportunity Zone Fund. He is responsible for acquisitions, capital markets and real estate development activities totaling over $10 billion across product types globally. Prior to joining Silverstein, Mr. Kaufman was the Director of Acquisitions & Asset Management at Jadam Equities Ltd, a family office with $3 billion under management and also worked for Newmark Knight Frank in Financial Services underwriting leasing and investment sales transactions. He started his career at Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a real estate consultant for REITs and lenders of single-asset CMBS securitizations. Mr. Kaufman attended the Ross School at the University of Michigan and earned a BBA with a concentration in Real Estate Finance. He subsequently earned a Certificate in Building Construction Technology from the New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate and an Advanced Certificate in Housing, Urban Policy & Planning from the Robert F Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. Mr. Kaufman is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute as a leadership chairperson of the national Urban Development and Mixed-Use Council (Blue Flight), member of the New York development council, and a member of the Urban Land Institute NEXT steering committee nationally. He keeps close ties with his alma matter as an Advisory Board Member of the Ross Business School Real Estate Investment Fund and is the founding member of the University of Michigan Real Estate Group in New York. Mr. Kaufman is also a Greater NY advisor to the President of the Prospect Park Alliance, and a member of the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he is active in the Center’s Career Mentor Program.

Mark oversees and directs the Design & Construction group for Longfellow’s national portfolio. He is responsible for the project management of all construction activities over the lifecycle of investment evaluation, facility repositioning, adaptive reuse, and ground-up development. Prior to the joining Longfellow in 2019, Mark had a 30-year career with Suffolk Construction Company, serving as its Northeast President, National COO and leading the West region’s office, strategic growth and development as President and General Manager. Mark’s expertise includes all facets of general contracting and construction management. He has a well-established track record of client development, contract negotiation, trade partner relationship development, and has successfully built multiple businesses with high-performing teams.

Ed Jaram joined King Street at the start of 2019 to manage project execution in New York and the surrounding markets, and has nearly 20 years’ experience in construction and real estate, both in the US and the UK. Before joining King Street, he ran the in-house construction company for a Manhattan-based developer performing both ground-up and renovation projects, delivering over 1,000,000 sq ft of construction in a three-year period. Before that, he worked for 10 years for Gardiner & Theobald – one of the largest independently-held construction consultancies in the world – and delivered projects with a total value of over $1bn in London, Los Angeles and New York, for clients including the WPP Advertising group, BioMed Realty, and The Dorchester Collection hotel company.

Since joining the firm in 2002, Anthony Montalto has led the design and management of numerous institutional and commercial science and technology/life science, healthcare and higher education healthcare projects. He has been critical in developing JB&B’s life science portfolio in New York, with projects that include Weill Cornell Medicine’s Belfer Research Building; the New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute; Cure at 345 Park Avenue South; and Elevate Research Properties/Taconic Partner’s West End Labs. This is in addition to the firm’s life science expansion into the Boston and Philadelphia areas, with projects in design for clients that include the Alexandria Center and the Center for Breakthrough Medicines. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been instrumental in the creation of innovative design strategies toward improving indoor air quality for occupant health and wellness. Mr. Montalto is a committee member and past co-chair of the NYC Builds Bio+ Regulatory Committee, has a longstanding association with Habitat for Humanity NYC and Westchester County, of which he is currently chair, and is a past president of ASHRAE NY. In addition to his many speaking engagements focusing on life science, he has contributed to numerous publications, including “Air Source Heat Pumps Could Be Next Big Thing in Building Sustainability” Commercial Observer, March, 2022; “Hudson Research Center ASHP Release”, Bisnow, January 21, 2022 and “Life Sciences Development Update”, Bisnow, May 2021. Mr. Montalto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering at Villanova University.

Adam is the CEO at the helm of the New York City office; he also leads the firm’s business development efforts nationally and oversees all marketing and public relations initiatives. Adam is the first point-of-contact for new clients. Frequently it’s Adam who introduces clients to SGA—highlighting the firm’s high-tech capabilities, its speed to market, and its buildable project solutions. He is a team-builder: After learning about a potential client’s needs, he determines the best talent to address them. As part of his marketing oversight responsibilities, Adam often outlines SGA’s scope of services and oversees contract negotiation with many of the firm’s clients. A critical component of Adam’s approach is to remain in close contact with clients as the project proceeds. He always plays a consultative role once a project begins, and for projects based out of the NYC office, he maintains high-level of involvement through every stage of a project’s lifecycle. Behind the scenes, Adam oversees all initiatives related to SGA’s public relations and marketing efforts, including social media, sponsorships, participation at industry events, and white papers. He’s an industry expert, frequently writing and speaking about sustainability, life-sciences development and other expanding markets.

Monique Salas, MPP, is the North American Director of Health & Wellness at SageGlass. In her role, she focuses on the impact Saint-Gobain SageGlass bears in Healthcare spaces. She has a rich history in the Pharmaceutical Industry and Healthcare Tech space. Monique is passionate about design that incorporates health & wellness as she has a strong belief that it uman performance. Some of her recent clients include Emory Healthcare, Geisinger Health, University of California Davis and University of California Davis Health.

Maria G. Gotsch is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Partnership Fund for New York City (www.pfnyc.org), which is the investment arm of the Partnership for New York City. The Fund, which has invested over $170 million, has built a network of top experts from the investment and corporate communities who help identify and support New York City’s most promising entrepreneurs in both the for-profit and non-for profit sectors. In addition to leading the Fund’s operations, Maria has spearheaded the creation and operation of a number of the Fund’s strategic initiatives, including: FinTech Innovation Lab; New York Digital Health Accelerator; Transit Tech Lab; NY Fashion Tech Lab; NYCSeed (seed financing for IT/digital media companies); BioAccelerate Prize NYC (proof-of-concept funding for university-based biomedical research); Arts Entrepreneurial Loan Fund (low cost loans for mid-size arts groups); and ReStart Central and Financial Recovery Fund (assistance and funding for small businesses impacted by 9/11/01). Prior to joining the Fund in 1999, Maria was a Managing Director at BT Wolfensohn (now part of Deutsche Bank), providing strategic and financial advice related to mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and the development of business strategies. Before starting with Wolfensohn, Maria worked at LaSalle Partners in the New York area and for Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York and London. Maria has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Wellesley College. She was also the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to study international relations at the Institut Universitaire de Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva, Switzerland. Maria also is a member of the boards of Sonepar USA Holdings and the New York Venture Capital Association; serves on the audit committee of Sonepar S.A.; and, serves on the advisory boards of ProPublica (investigative journalism non-profit), Schools That Can, Columbia University’s Lang Fund and Hospital for Special Surgery Innovation Advisory Council.

Marc Appel is the CEO of Orange Grove Bio ("OGB"), a biotech platform focused on the investment in and development of preclinical stage assets. He is an experienced investor in the healthcare and biotech spaces. He helped to build the structured healthcare and royalty investing strategy at Marathon Asset Management, where he was instrumental on a range of large biotech deals. Prior to that, he invested across the capital structure in public market healthcare opportunities. Investments included companies in the specialty pharma, hospital, outpatient services, drug distribution, and biotech sectors. He also has extensive experience in work-out situations, where he restructured companies across a number of different industries. Marc additionally serves as a financial and legal advisor to physician practices in areas such as business process optimization, billing best practices, and deal negotiation. He has previously held roles at Highbridge Principal Strategies, Eaton Vance, and Kirkland & Ellis. He began his career as an analyst at McKinsey & Co. serving a mix of financial services and healthcare clients. Marc received his B.A. from Yale University, summa cum laude, his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is an active member of the NY bar. Marc speaks on panels at a range of conferences in the healthcare space including CBI Trade Channel Strategies, Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute, and BIO CEO. He serves as an entrepreneur-in-residence to the Blavatnik program at Yale, a mentor to the Weill-Cornell eLab, a member of the external advisory review boards at both the Biotechnology Center at Stonybrook and the Dartmouth Innovations Accelerator for Cancer, and an adviser to the Robertson Fund at Rockefeller University. Nadir is a managing director and is responsible for all aspects of New York office real estate investments. Nadir’s experience includes various positions from asset management, acquisitions, and product development. Prior to joining Nuveen Real Estate in 2012, Nadir was involved in both asset management and acquisitions roles at Silverstein Properties and RLJ development Urban Lodging Trust (formally RLJ Development LLC). Nadir graduated with a B.A in Business Administration from St. John’s University, an M.B.A. from Villanova School of Business and an M.S. in Real Estate Finance from New York University.

Karen Heidelberger is a Partner and Chief Partnership and Communications Officer at Deerfield and joined the Firm in 2002. She is responsible for relationships with investors, partner companies, academic institutions and other interested parties. Prior to this role, Ms. Heidelberger was a Trader at Deerfield for over a decade. Before Deerfield, Ms. Heidelberger was a Vice President in the Sales and Trading division of Merrill Lynch, and served as a Conflicts Coordinator in the Mergers and Acquisitions department. As Conflicts Coordinator, she was responsible for ensuring that Merrill Lynch was clear of legal and business conflicts of interest before the firm was able to accept an assignment. Ms. Heidelberger has approximately 17 years of experience in healthcare and 24 years of experience in finance. She is involved in Deerfield’s Break into the Boardroom and Women in Science programs, and currently serves on the Board of NewYorkBIO and the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures. Ms. Heidelberger graduated from the Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration and earned her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Kristen Ferris is a corporate attorney with a wealth of experience representing clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital transactions, as well as handling general corporate representation of a variety of operating companies. Her clients include in-house counsel and c-suite executives at public and private companies, as well as private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, who turn to Kristen as their trusted advisor and primary contact for her deep experience on both the buy and sell-side of large M&A and financial transactions. She has led deals in a broad range of industries including technology, life sciences, energy, consumer retail, and automotive. Her work encompasses a company’s entire lifecycle – including formation, financing, growth, and exit. Nishta has extensive and specialized expertise in research, biotech, startups, entrepreneurship and academic partnerships with the goal of translating technologies to commercially viable therapies and products. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Scientific Operations at Kadmon, a biotech startup based in New York City that focuses on discovery, development, and commercialization of small molecules and biologics. A molecular biologist by training, Nishta has scientific experience both in academia and industry.

Peter Schubert, FAIA is a Design Partner at Ennead Architects. Peter has spent over thirty-years designing award-winning office, commercial life science, vertical laboratories, R&D and innovation centers, academic science, mixed-use residential, hospital and hotel projects in the US and around the world. Fusing a passion for urbanism with iconic architecture that integrates local culture, history and context, he creates purposeful buildings and civic spaces. His work includes: Center East: The New York Blood Center, on the Upper East Side; The Cove Jersey City, a 3,000,000 SF commercial science-led mixed-use development; DIVCO West’s Parcel U project at Cambridge Crossing in MA; and the Alexandria Center for Life Science at East River Science Plaza, the first ground-up commercial lab project in New York City. Ennead has close to 5,000,000 sf of ground-up commercial lab projects across the Northeast. The firm is responsible for projects in the New York area as diverse as The Standard Hotel Highline, the new Koch Research Center at MSK and The Rose Planetarium.

Geoff is responsible for driving overall Life Science market strategy across Consigli’s footprint—including Boston/Cambridge, NYC region, & the Mid Atlantic. In his time with Consigli, they have developed an expertise delivering all aspects of Life Science construction for owners and end-users, including fit-out, renovation, expansion, and new construction of both R&D to cGMP/Manufacturing facilities. Geoff works closely with all levels of Consigli’s Life Science team to manage the entire process, including client relations, business development operations, marketing and recruiting. He loves working and collaborating with the many layers of the Life Science market and AEC industry. Geoff received his MBA from Boston College - Carroll School of Management and BA from Tufts University.

Bill Harvey joined Newmark in 2009 at the firm’s Manhattan headquarters, where he provides tenant representation with a focus on strategic real estate advisory services. Mr. Harvey has represented a wide range of clients including France Telecom, Council of Large Public Housing Authorities, Reno & Cavanaugh, Grigsby & Associates, HopStop.com and Adrea Rubin Marketing. In 2012, Mr. Harvey brokered one of the largest transactions of the year on behalf of the New York Genome Center, Inc., (NYGC) for 175,000 square feet of space at 101 Avenue of the Americas. Founded in 2010, NYGC’s member institutions include Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Columbia University, Cornell University/Weill Cornell Medical College, The Jackson Laboratory, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York University/NYU School of Medicine, North Shore-LIJ Health System, The Rockefeller University, and Stony Brook University. Prior to joining Newmark, Mr. Harvey was with Eastern Consolidated, where he focused on sourcing and structuring commercial real estate sales transactions in the New York City metropolitan area. Earlier in his career, Mr. Harvey worked as a senior project manager at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, during both the Giuliani and Bloomberg administrations. In this capacity, he was responsible for the day-to-day management of a number of significant projects, including the $5 million sale of three municipally owned parking facilities to Jamaica First Parking LLC, a subsidiary of Greater Jamaica Development Corporation. He also served on the operating committee of the Queens West Development Corporation. Queens West, a public-private partnership sponsored by the city of New York, the state of New York and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is the $2 billion residential, office and retail project located in Hunters Point, Queens. Mr. Harvey began his real estate career as a tenant representative with Washington Realty Group, Inc., in which capacity he was awarded Kennedy-Wilson Properties’ “Dealmaker of the Year” and The John Akridge Companies’ “Broker of the Year” awards. Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Harvey is active within his community. He chairs the $1 million Sara Manley Harvey/John Carroll Scholarship endowment campaign at Georgetown University and also serves on the Cristo Rey New York High School advisory board. Mr. Harvey is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Real Estate Board of New York. He recently received accreditation as a LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Harvey is a graduate of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University with a B.S.B.A. degree in finance. He also graduated from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University with an M.S.R.E.D. degree.
