Fort Worth Kitchen To Replace Snap Kitchen’s Austin, Houston Facilities

Austin-based Snap Kitchen will close two facilities apiece in Houston and Austin to consolidate kitchen operations to a new 30K SF facility in Fort Worth.

In a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission, the prepared meal company said it gave employees at four facilities 60 days notice of layoffs, taking effect Oct. 1.

More than 150 employees will be impacted. The consolidation will not result in store closures.

Around 200 employees will work at the new Fort Worth facility on Trinity Boulevard when it opens later in 2017.

The maker of prepared meals was founded in Austin in 2010 and has more than 50 locations in Austin, DFW, Houston, Chicago and Philadelphia.

In February, fellow Austin-based prepared meal company My Fit Foods abruptly closed all of its 50-plus locations.

Dallas-based Simply Fit Meals has eight stores across Allen, Dallas, Fort Worth and Frisco.
