The Dallas chapter of IREM presented its 2013 industry awards: CPM of the year to Jessica Warrior; academic of the year to LYONUS’ Julie Lynch; ARM of the year to Lincoln Property’s Brian Bordelon; AMO of the year to Lincoln Property Co’s John Horan; committee of the year awards to committee chair Duke Realty’s Michelle Morris; committee recognition to CBRE’s Christopher King and Search Property Management’s Debbie Lister; and VMC Landscape’s Mark Slicker as committee member of the year. The 2013 IREM friend of the year winners are Scott Frech, Christie Clenney, and Andrea Saccomanno. Special recognition was given to Schneider Electric’s Tim Ward, Universal Protection’s Greg Goree, and Chamberlin’s Amanda Lipford. Rising star of the year was awarded to Cobalt Capital Partners’ Ginny Goldsmith. Associate of the year was presented to IREM executive assistant Terry Barnes. ACoM of the year went to Healthcare Management of America’s Carol Borchardt, the legacy award to Helen Moise; the 2013 president’s award to Susan Heath; and the friends of IREM legacy award to Fuitec America’s Steve Broom.

The Real Estate Council’s associate leadership council, in association with The Real Estate Council Foundation, partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas to rehabilitate its East Dallas Club as its 2014 community service project. A $40k grant provided by the TREC Foundation, in addition to approximately $75k in projected funds raised by the associate leadership council, will be used for capital costs related to the continued rehabilitation of this marquee location at 4804 Worth St in East Dallas that houses the East Dallas Boys & Girls Club and the organization’s administrative offices next door. Construction began in January with completion and ribbon cutting ceremony slated for late spring.

The Frisco Economic Development Corp was a gold winner in Atlas Advertising’s Economic Development Olympics. The FEDC ranked first in the high performance economic development category based on projects from calendar year 2012 that have the potential to create or retain 3,500 jobs in the Frisco area with a potential capital investment of more than $1B.

The semi-annual Wine and Women networking brought together more than 100 women while sampling wine from some of commercial real estate’s tux-wearing fellas. Here’s Cresa Dallas’ Jeff Pappas, Wolverine Interests’ James Leslie, StructureTone’s Eric Hage, host StructureTone’s David Snyder, Younger Partners’ Trae Anderson (who won best dressed for his white high-top sneakers with his tux), CBRE’s Fred Noblett; Workplace Solutions’ Greg Anderson (who won best preserved for being able to wear the same tux he wore at age 15—we’re wondering if he had mothballs in his handkerchief pocket), and CBRE’s Sean Goff.

EXECUTIVE MOVES

KeyBank Real Estate Capital appointed Alexander Beaumariage as VP and affordable housing program manager. He will be responsible for launching KeyBank’s national affordable housing program, which aims to integrate and expand the capabilities of the firm’s community development lending team and the real estate capital team.

Stream Realty added Sara Terry as VP. She came from Crescent Resources in Atlanta and will be responsible for leasing the Trammell Crow Center in downtown and expanding the company’s institutional services portfolio

KBS Realty Advisors and KBS Capital Advisors promoted Ryan McManigal to VP/market leader for Dallas. His duties will include managing a portfolio totaling more than 3.7M SF as well as identifying new acquisition opportunities within the greater Dallas market. He will also be responsible for dispositions in the Dallas region.

UCR named Thad Beckner as assistant VP. Thad will join UCR’s retail services platform specializing in project leasing and property sales in DFW. Prior to joining UCR, Thad was an assistant VP at Henry S. Miller.

Hines promoted Ben Brewer, Heath Johnson, and Danny Opitz. Ben has been promoted to managing director. He joined Hines in 2006 as a member of the southwest regional accounting group in Houston. Heath has been promoted to managing director. He joined the firm in 2000 in Houston as part of the property management team at One Shell Plaza. Danny has been promoted to VP-construction. He joined the firm in 2006 in Dallas as a senior construction manager overseeing construction related to the firm’s acquisition of approximately 700 acres of property in Las Colinas.
