DFW's Newest Data Center Is Changing The Game

Placeholder

The newest data center in Plano is energy efficient, technologically advanced and just plain impressive. Aligned Data Centers just opened its new 30 megawatt data center spanning over 125k SF. Aligned director Jack Edwards took us behind the curtain for an inside look at the property changing DFW's data center market. With only 6k SF dedicated to office space, the data center is mostly focused on the state-of-the-art technology. The conference rooms (pictured above) even got in on the the action. When a room is busy the light above the door turns red, when it's vacant, it's green.

This above space alone is over 30k SF. The center is built to withstand almost any natural disaster. The LED lighting changes colors if there is an emergency, so every person in the facility knows what evacuation plan to follow.

Reliability is of course a focus; the center has six telecom carriers and two main utility sources for power with multiple 2.5Mw power generators as backup.

The server cabinets pictured above are dynamically configurable from 1 to 25 KW, depending upon the needs of a client. The advanced machinery will also cool down in record time. If any of these racks should overheat, the system is able to recover in just over a minute. The center also prides itself on being environmentally aware. Along with a PUE of 1.15, the space uses 85% less water than your standard data center and this new model saves customers 30 to 50% a year in data center costs, which includes the power output.

Due to safety concerns, the center doesn't have any windows looking outside, but you can still get your view. You can use the cameras in the room to view the property's exterior and interior.

Jack tells us the center is ready to build approximately 200k more SF.
