New $300M Data Center Complex To Be Unveiled In Plano

Aligned Data Centers has completed construction on its new 30-megawatt data center complex at 2800 Summit Ave in Plano.

The company plans to unveil the initial 100k SF of the complex this Thursday, the Dallas Business Journal reports. Aligned plans to expand the center by an additional 200k SF in the future. "It's a very good market from a fiber and power perspective. It's a very strong data center market that's equidistant from coast to coast and easily accessible,” said CEO Jakob Carnemark. The DFW region is one of the top data center markets in the country and has seen explosive growth in the sector of late. Just this past summer, Facebook announced that it's building a new data center in Fort Worth that is 100% powered by renewable energy.

The six-year-old company is also launching a pay-for-use concept, which will allow tenants to lease megawatts based on what they use. "We want to be the first data center provider to offer a model of having tenants pay for what they use, similar to the utility model,” Carnemark said. [DBJ]
