SPEED RACER RAIL

The Texas Department of Transportation's gonna get $15M in federal funds to develop a proposed high-speed rail corridor between DFW and Houston. TxDOT?s funding came out of the US DOT?s $2B in High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail funds that became available earlier this year. The corridor would connect two of the nation's most populated metro areas (and your favorite Bisnowcities). Proposed speeds would be up to 150 mph (and no one?s getting ticketed). Additional awards include $4M in high-speed stimulus funds to adjust signal timing for several at-grade crossings for Amtrak's Heartland Flyer and about $7M from the 2009 appropriations bill to lay additional track along a portion of the Trinity Rail Express.
