The Vintage Plymouth Building's $11M Redevelopment Gets Permits

Elliott Capital's plan to build student housing in the landmark Plymouth Building has received a green light from the city. Elliot and partner LG Development were issued permits to convert the landmark building's top five floors into 30 units of student housing. The permit also allows for the construction of a rooftop deck, and floors two through five will become office space.

Elliot Capital founder Justin Elliott believes student housing is the way to go in the South Loop. Downtown is home to over 38,000 full-time college students and the building is a stone's throw from DePaul's downtown campus, Robert Morris University and Columbia College Chicago.

Construction is expected to be completed in time for the 2017-18 school year. Rents will range from $900/month for a shared dorm to $1,400/month for a private room.
