Realignment of Chicago's Most Dangerous Intersection Begins

Placeholder

The City of Chicago’s $60M plan to realign the treacherous six-way intersection at Fullerton, Damen and Elston Avenues begins today. When completed, the new bypass will include three independent signal-controlled intersections but will reduce congestion and improve safety for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians. But it will get worse before it gets better; traffic will be reduced to one lane on northbound Damen and Elston north to Fullerton to accommodate partial demolition of the Mid-Town Building at 2020 W Fullerton as part of the project, reports the Chicago Tribune. The realignment is expected to be completed late next year. [CT]
