Baxter’s Baxalta Will Touch Down in Bannockburn

Placeholder

Deerfield-based Baxter’s doubling down in Illinois. The company just announced its biopharma spinoff, Baxalta (splitting from Baxter is expected this summer), signed a more than decade-long lease of a 260k SF facility at 1200 Lakeside Dr in Bannockburn for its global HQ. Baxalta CEO Ludwig Hantson credited the area’s strong employee base, and Baxter projects about $6B in revenue for the new company (focused on bleeding disorders, immunology, niche areas of oncology and gene therapy). A spokeswoman said the company did not receive financial incentives to move to Bannockburn, the Chicago Tribune reports. And it’s a relief for the Chicago area, the Chicago Sun-Times writes, since last August reports surfaced that Baxalta might plant its flag near Boston (it's building an R&D facility there).
