Amazon Negotiating Lease at 227 W Monroe

Amazon is in final negotiations to lease office space downtown. The e-commerce giant is believed to be eyeing 30k SF at 227 W Monroe, the taller of the two towers that make up The Franklin.

If a lease can be inked, this would mark a breakthrough for Tishman Speyer, which has spent $30M rehabbing the 60-story 227 W Monroe and its sister building, the 34-story 222 W Adams. Landing Amazon could pave the way for other prospective tenants to call the 2.4M SF complex home, according to Crain's.

It's unknown what jobs Amazon would locate downtown. The company had been busy locking down sites across the area for distribution centers and warehouses at Goose Island and on the South Side. [Crain's]
