Fifield Celebrates NEXT Grand Opening

With three days of parties, NEXT is ready for residents. Fifield delivered the 28-story, 310-unit apartment tower in River North. Over 900 guests attended the grand opening, including dignitaries such as Ald. Walter Burnett (27th), River North Business Association president Sharon Romack, and the NEXT development team of general contractor McHugh Construction, architect Pappageorge Hames and interior designer Soucie Horner.

Guests toured the building’s sixth-floor amenity deck, along with six decorated model apartments (pictured) showcasing designs by Cort Furniture, Brook Furniture, Modani Furniture and Soucie Horner.

Getting the high-rise NEXT approved in an area of River North zoned for low-rise development was challenging, Fifield Cos Steve and Randy Fifield told us last year. They worked with Ald. Burnett and neighborhood groups to get approval.

Steve says NEXT is perfectly located near the nexus of Chicago's fast-growing tech triangle of Goose Island, River North and the West Loop, which will make it attractive to workers wanting to be close to the office.

NEXT offers studio, one- and two-bedroom residences, as well as luxury two- and three-bedroom penthouses. Floor plans range from 426 to 1,727 SF, with rents ranging from $1,790 to $6,200. In a first in the amenities arms race, NEXT has a house dog. Daisy, an 80-pound Newfoundland, lives on-site and is available to residents looking for occasional canine companionship without the obligations of pet ownership.
