Centrum Partners Planning 95 Apartments Near The 606

Centrum Partners unveiled renderings for Centrum 606, its proposed mid-rise multifamily development steps from The 606. The renderings come after months of overcoming objections to the project from community groups.

Centrum 606 calls for 95 apartments at 1767 N Milwaukee, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units. The six-story building will have an outdoor terrace, bike storage, a fitness center and a lounge/entertainment room, and is pet-friendly. Its most attractive feature is its proximity to The 606, the 2.8-mile rails-to-trails project that intersects Wicker Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park and Palmer/Logan Square.

To build Centrum 606, Centrum Partners will tear down the existing Aldi supermarket; Aldi signed an 18k SF lease in the new development. A 4,500 SF restaurant is also planned for the building.

Centrum Partners' original proposal for the project was rejected by the Wicker Park Committee's preservation and development subcommittee in March. The group cited a lack of affordable housing in the proposal. Centrum has since received support from the committee and other neighborhood groups, and the project was approved by the City Council. Groundbreaking is slated for March 2016, with delivery expected in Q1 2017.
