CA Ventures' South Loop Apartment Tower Will Block Views Of Popular Mural

Placeholder

Construction of CA Ventures' 26-story apartment tower at 1136 South Wabash has progressed quickly ever since CA and its partner in the project, Keith Giles, landed $51M in construction financing last October. But there's an unintentional downside to the construction.

The tower will block the view of "Flyboy," the four-story mural painted on the adjacent building by popular Chicago artist Hebru Brantley. Flyboy is partially inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen and frequently appears in Brantley's artwork.

While fans of street art may be disappointed the new building will soon block Flyboy, Brantley chalked it up to both the pace of development and the temporary nature of street art, DNAInfo reports. In our opinion, the best view of the Flyboy mural is from the Roosevelt 'L' station platform. Get pictures while you can. [DNA]
