MAC Property Management filed a request today for a PUD with the city council and by next summer hopes to start renovating the 1,038-apartment Regents Park high-rise, says MAC’s Peter Cassel. So starts another chapter in the 54-year-old complex’s history of ups and downs. Originally built in Hyde Park as affordable housing, the property went through foreclosure and was repositioned as luxury rentals. Last year, a MAC associated entity bought it for $160M. Last week, MAC won kudos for its management: a Property Excellence Award, the highest honor at the recent Chicagoland Apartments Association’s CAMME Award gala at the Marriott Magnificent Mile attended by 1,000 CRE pros.
