Downtown Real Estate Softball League: It's a Three-Peat to End the 33rd Season!
The 2012 season of the Downtown Real Estate Softball League ended this week with JLL taking the prize for the third time. JLL peaked at the right time after staggering to a 1-3 start. They then ran the table the next five games, finishing in the middle of the pack of the highly competitive Salbego Division. This week to cap things off, they beat Colliers 5-1 in the semifinal game and then torched an overmatched TSP team 12-4 to take home all the marbles.
SEMIFINALS

Field 2: Tishman Speyer Properties 7, UGL 5. It was a game defined by timely hitting and solid defense. Patrick Thompson did a great job on the mound filling in for Casey Wold. TSP jumped out to an early lead in the first two innings only to have UGL come back with three runs in the fourth. TSP persevered and notched one more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Field 5: JLL 5, Colliers 1. JLL defense prevailed over Colliers. JLL scored the all-important first run in the top of the first on hits by Jason Vervack, Andy Serafine and Brian Recsetar. With the 3-1 lead by the second, the JLL defense clamped down and the score remained that way for the majority of the game. The game was close and could have gone either way with a big inning from either team.

Defensive Stars for JLL: Josh Vervack at the MI position with several key put outs and double play turns. Andy with his usual stellar play at SS. Todd Schaefer as solid as ever at 1B. Jason with several great plays in LF.

Hitting Stars for JLL: Jason, 2-3 (key lead-off hit in the first and key two-out, two-RBI hit in the top of the seventh) with one run and two RBI. Bill Rogers, 2-3 with an RBI.

Side Note: Jordan Kaufman was the toughest pitcher JLL had faced all year and perhaps the past few years. He consistently kept the JLL hitters off-balance and made several difficult defensive plays as well.
