North Tryon Vision & Implementation Plan Gets Green Light

Placeholder

Mecklenburg County commissioners unanimously gave the go-ahead last week for the North Tryon Vision & Implementation Plan. The plan is the creation of a consortium of 19 entities, with a goal of revitalizing 60 acres in Uptown, and with a timeline of 25 years to fully implement.

The plan covers three major areas: the blocks containing the library, Spirit Square, Discovery Place, the Carolina Theatre and Hall House; the county-owned Hal Marshall Center site; and Levine Properties’ tract, which will be mixed-use.

Revitalization of the area is already underway, reports the Charlotte Business Journal. First Ward Park opened last year, and SkyHouse Uptown, an apartment project by Novare Group, Grubb Properties and Batson-Cook Development, will add 1,000 residents to the corridor. Adjacent to SkyHouse Uptown is 10 Tryon, a mixed-use project led by David Furman and Charles Campbell. [CBJ]
