Griffith Plans More Apartments For Area West Of Uptown

The E.C. Griffith Co. is planning to develop an apartment community of at least 280 units on a 17.8-acre tract at West Morehead Street and Suttle Avenue. The area is mostly wooded. The Charlotte City Council will probably approve the plan next month, the Charlotte Observer reports.

The plan calls for three apartment buildings with surface parking. There would also be two townhouse-style buildings on West Morehead, which would be rental units.

The area, which is to the west of Uptown Charlotte, is busy filling up with new apartments. The Morehead West apartments, for example, are open and leasing next to the Griffith site.

At Wilkinson Boulevard and Suttle Avenue, Alliance Residential will build as many as 350 apartments. The Asbury Flats apartments are open at Freedom Drive and Walnut Avenue, and an apartment building called Arlo is under construction at West Morehead and Summit Avenue.
