It's time to show the world what the people of Charlotte have built, says Charlotte 2012 Host Committee ED Dan Murrey. Dan (right) was among featured panelists recently convened at Central Piedmont Community College?s Tate Hall to introduce the public to four of the main players behind the DNC planning process. Chamber president Bob Morgan moderated the event, with a capacity crowd of almost 200. Other panelists: Mayor Anthony Foxx, 2012 DNC CEO Steve Kerrigan, and former Mayor Harvey Gantt. Dan heads the committee responsible for raising the $37M to put on the convention. Steve led the site-selection team that brought it to Charlotte. He now heads the convention staff that will spend the money Dan?s team raises. About 35,000 people are expected to converge on the Queen City during the convention, which runs Sept. 3-6, 2012. As much as $200M in sales may be generated for hotels, restaurants, shops, and other businesses in the region.
