Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville?s Chris Hummer announces land purchase in York County

Carolinas Healthcare System, owner of Carolinas Medical Center, paid $3M to a York County, SC, museum foundation for about 20 acres of land (near I-77 and Sutton Road) the healthcare system hopes to use for a new, 350-employee hospital, says Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville?s Chris Hummer. CHS wants to build a $79.1M, 64-bed hospital. The system is vying against Piedmont Medical Center of Rock Hill and Presbyterian Healthcare of Charlotte to win state approval for a new hospital in Fort Mill. CHS bought the land from SDG Properties, the development arm of the Culture & Heritage Foundation in York County. No date for approving the site for a new medical facility has been set. CHS says it would take about 18 months to build its hospital if approval is granted.
