Boston a Foodie Haven?

Boston—once home to very few good restaurants—made it to No. 3 of the US Top 10 Foodie Cities after New Haven and Scottsdale, in another survey released yesterday, this one by Livability.com. (We'll have to double check their research.) Bean town is now characterized by inventive, eclectic bistro cuisine, ethnically diverse menus, upscale eateries and cozy cafes. The ranking is determined by how frequently families eat at locally owned restaurants serving locally grown food; how much they spend; access to fresh produce and meat; and farmer’s markets. Another ingredient: critically acclaimed chefs like Barbara Lynch—owner of B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop, Drink and No. 9 Park—who was recently named the country's most Outstanding Restaurateur by the James Beard Foundation.
