The Seaport has its first glimpse of what Amazon’s latest expansion might look like.

WS Development and architecture firm Gensler filed a presentation for Seaport Square Block L4 to the Boston Planning & Development Agency ahead of a Tuesday Boston Civic Design Commission meeting. The property is where Amazon is expected to lease 430K SF of offices and bring 2,000 jobs.

The 17-story, 270-foot office building includes 81K SF of retail. WS has already received most permitting needed for the L4 project.

While the deal is not finalized, the company won city approval in March for $5M in property tax breaks to bring the promised number of jobs by 2025. Amazon has the option to lease a second building next door and double the employee count for an additional $5M in tax breaks.

The company has to employ all 4,000 jobs within 25 miles of the city of Boston and in the state of Massachusetts to be eligible for the financial incentives. The Boston expansion is said to be unrelated to the company’s HQ2 bidding process.

WS hopes to begin construction on the L4 building in late 2018 and complete by Q1 2021.
