Suburban Apartments Have Sizzle Too. Here's Why.

Suburban apartments are competitive with more urban properties—provided they've got the right amenities, and access to transit.

“We have been leasing the apartments as quickly as we build them,” Campanelli partner Dan DeMarco (right, with Jeff DeMarco at the project's groundbreaking) tells us, regarding Campanelli and Thorndike Development's new apartments in Norwood, the 262-unit One Upland. Not long ago, the project topped off, with completion slated for this fall. “The leasing velocity at One Upland so far has been a testament to the desire for residents to live here."

The property is on 24 acres of an 82-acre campus Campanelli has owned for more than a decade. One Upland features a clubhouse with game room, a pool, a fitness center and two dog parks. It's only two miles off Route 128 and not far from MBTA commuter rail. This is the first co-development by Campanelli and Thorndike, and a second property, East Main Apartments, is under construction in nearby Norton.
