Somerville’s Powder House School May Become Mixed-Use Property

Placeholder

The city of Somerville has been trying to find a use for the Powder House Community School and may finally have some answers. (But they'll only get to say it if they raise their hand and wait to be called on.) A new mixed-use development has been proposed that would convert it to 40 residential units and 11 commercial spaces. MarKa LLC has been chosen as the preferred developer to revitalize the property, Boston.com reports. Residential housing would be split into senior housing, loft apartments and affordable units for artists. The proposal includes a courtyard that would serve as a collaborative campus for artists. [BOS]
