Kimco Realty's Tom Simmons (right, with NAIOP Maryland Developing Leaders co-chairs James Knott of James F. Knott Realty Group and Alex Kopicki of Solstice Partners) spoke to the Developing Leaders at The Wine Market recently, saying, "We are seeing... 'dumbbell growth' in the high-end retail category and... the discount sector. Together they're on opposite sides of the scale." (Often we debate whether to shop at the Dollar Store or the Hundred Thousand Dollar Store.) He says retailers spent more than 18 months investing in improved distribution chains and profits, and now deals are happening again.
