STREET KINGS
King Street Properties has nearly doubled its holdings in the past 12 months in the booming life science market and has now entered the Cambridge hub.
STREET KINGS
Since last summer, King Street's Tom Ragno, here with partner Steve Lynch, has grown the company to 450k SF from 225k SF in Waltham, Lexington, and at 733 Concord Ave, the Fresh Pond side of Cambridge. In Lexington, it's building a 103k SF, $30M lab and has a similarly sized building on the drawing board. Despite Vertex?s move to Boston, Tom says the industry?s center of gravity will remain in Cambridge with the ?burbs as a secondary market. Vacancies are relatively low, especially for Class-A space, and rents are strong. The institutions that attract start-ups to grow in the region—MIT, Harvard, their research and medical affiliates—crank on.
