| CBT Architects is already known for designing trophy properties, most recently Atlantic Wharf and Liberty Mutual?s new HQ. Now it wants to raise its profile as an urban design expert. While it's long done big master plans like that for the 5M SF North Point, last week it announced that it established the post of urban design director, which has been filled by longtime CBT staffer Kishore Varanasi (above). For years, Kishore?s been working with BU, the state, and the cities of Boston, Brookline and Cambridge on the university?s latest master plan. He's also designing a 150-acre waterfront site in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. But now, he says his new title tells the outside world that CBT is serious about urban design. |
