DISPATCHES FROM ICSC
Neil Ticker and Stephanie Rawlings-Blake in Vegas on May 21, 2012
Our friend Larry Lichtenauer threw a few pictures our way from the ICSC floor in Vegas yesterday. Here's Chesapeake Real Estate Group principal Neil Tucker and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who hit up ICSC to meet with prospective Baltimore retail tenants. Neil says The Shops at Canton Crossing, to break ground in August, is 95% pre-leased, many of the tenants opening their first Baltimore City locations there. He also tells us the temp is 102 and retail is hot. "Lenders are lending, developers are developing, and retailers are signing new deals."
Bill Holzman and Jerry Wit in Vegas on May 21, 2012
St. John Properties' Bill Holzman (with colleague Jerry Wit) tells us they had a full day of meetings, and the floor was the most crowded he'd seen for few years. He says all the meetings ended on a positive note to push deals ahead. The duo ended their day with 1,300 others at the Encore Beach Club in the Wynn, the must-attend party for Maryland real estate folks.
Naveen Jaggi in Vegas on May 21, 2012
CBRE head of Americas retail Naveen Jaggi says his firm's size is a major advantage: It can find a site, build a site, maintain a site, and even provide supply-chain analytics to help it operate at optimal efficiency. This becomes particularly important, he says, as retailers that were battered by recession are still expected to grow yet have leaner resources to do so. Appropriately, he displays a cup from Starbucks since CB reps it in Brazil, and Naveen just helped locate additional outlets in Rio and Sao Paulo.

Other recent achievements: Naveen's 18-year-old daughter is en route to college on a med school track. And speaking of track, his 15-year-old son just ran a 4:45 mile at the state meet.
ICSC May 21, 2012
You might not think politicians are popular, but this panel of former Senators Tom Daschle and Trent Lott attracted 1,200.
