Brian Lavin, the former executive chef of Salt and Fork & Wrench, is branching out on his own with Gnocco, a Mediterranean restaurant opening June 14 in the former Brewers Hill Pub & Grill space. The 52-seat restaurant will serve Italian, French and Spanish-influenced cuisine, including ricotta cavatelli with morels, duck confit and apricot; and razor clams with grapefruit, tarragon salsa verde and prosecco.

Sam White, formerly of Cinghiale, will head up the wine and cocktail program. Gnocco will offer free hors d’oeuvres and drink specials during the aperitvo happy hour.

Gnocco is the latest restaurant to open in the Brewers Hill/Highlandtown area. Gunther & Co, a $3.5M adaptive reuse project, debuted this month in the former Gunther brewery complex. Beer and sausage tavern Snake Hill opened in November and Charlie Gjerde’s Huck’s American Craft opened last summer.
