French Laundry Alum Opens The Turn House In Columbia

A chef whose résumé includes stints at the famed French Laundry and New York's Eleven Madison Park, has taken after the former Coho Grill at Columbia's Hobbit's Glen golf course and renamed it The Turn House.

Kirk Designs and Gye Group redesigned the 112-seat restaurant, adding new art, plush armchairs and carpets. The renovations were intended to give the space a warmer feel and cost about $100k, says executive chef and owner Thomas Zippelli. The makeover also includes a living wall with decorative moss and ferns. The restaurant includes a 52-seat bar and lounge and a covered patio that overlooks the golf course.

It's the latest new restaurant to open in Howard County. The owners of Victoria Gastro Pub are opening Food Plenty in Clarksville next year and Manor Hill Tavern in downtown Ellicott City.
