Diageo Beer Company USA will build a brewery in Relay, Md., that produces its famed Irish beer, Guinness. Expected to start renovation this spring on the former Seagram's Building and open in the fall, the facility would also include a visitor center for Baltimore County tourists thirsty for a new experience.

The facility will brew new Guinness beers for the U.S. market while its famed Guinness Stouts will continue brewing in Dublin, Ireland. The company said the brewery could hire 40 in brewing, warehousing and packaging and another 30 to create the visitor experience. The project would become part of Diageo's production facility in Relay, home of its 83-year-old Calvert Distillery.

Diageo is the latest company to tap into Greater Baltimore's bubbling brewery scene. Monument City is opening a brewery in Highlandtown this month, while Guilford Brewing is opening a restaurant and brewery in Greenmount West. Diamondback Brewing Co opened a brewery and taproom in Locust Point last year.
