A nonprofit real estate development firm has transformed the former Load of Fun building at 120 W North Ave into an arts facility. Motor House, as the building is now called, opened Monday in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District, The Daily Record reports. Baltimore Arts Realty Corp (BARCO) has signed up two new office tenants, the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance and FutureMakers, a team of designers, engineers, technologists and artists who work with K-8 students. BARCO spent $6.5M to purchase and rehab the 25k SF building, using tax credits, grants and a state bond bill. The first floor will house a performance space and café, which will open in July. [DR]
