Ross Perot's real estate company is joining the spec industrial fray in Atlanta. Hillwood is breaking ground on Clayton Commerce Center, a nearly 800K SF spec warehouse near the intersection of Interstate 675 and Anvil Block Road.

The deal comes a year after Hillwood — whose chairman is the son of former presidential candidate Ross Perot — purchased Gwinnett 316, a 2.2M SF, 15-building industrial park in Lawrenceville.

Hillwood is certainly not alone in its move to go spec in Atlanta. OA Development is planning a 750K SF spec distribution center near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's International Terminal. According to Cushman & Wakefield, developers have built more than 15M SF of industrial development there as of 2017.

“Atlanta's industrial activity is booming with new supply being met by consistent demand,” Hillwood senior vice president Todd Parker wrote in an email. "We remain bullish on the region as we move through 2017."
