Parkway Properties' John Barton (center with Parkway's David O'Reilly and Jayson Lipsey) is headed to the Buckhead CID board. Sources tell us that Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is expected to appoint John to the board, replacing outgoing member Ackerman & Co founder Charlie Ackerman, one of Atlanta's development icons who is often credited with establishing the modern Buckhead skyline. John declined to comment. But Buckhead CID executive director Jim Durrett confirmed that John is "in the process" of being appointed, but "I have yet to receive his appointment letter. Charlie is still on the board."

John was instrumental in helping PulteGroup establish its HQ in Atlanta when that company moved from Chicago last year. The homebuilder put its office at One Capital City Plaza, the Buckhead tower owned by Parkway Properties. And as we reported here recently, Parkway execs—including John—have expressed bullish sentiment on the tony submarket for future investments as it sells off its Central Perimeter portfolio.
