Mercedes-Benz USA is headed to Glenridge Hall after a temporary stop in Sterling Pointe II. Mercedes CEO Stephen Cannon was on hand today with Gov. Nathan Deal to reveal the luxury automaker's plans for its HQ move to Atlanta from Montvale, NJ. It ultimately plans to develop a HQ campus on 12 acres of the Glenridge Hall land at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads in Sandy Springs by 2018. The land is under contract with homebuilder Ashton Woods, which plans to develop a single-family residential community on the remainder. But as of this July, the company is taking temporary space at the 186k SF Sterling Pointe II in Dunwoody. Ackerman & Co's Kris Miller, whose firm's site at the corner of Abernathy and GA 400 was one of the contenders for Mercedes, says, "Although we wish the site decision had gone our way, we are ecstatic that Mercedes-Benz is coming to Atlanta."
