FIFA Bribe Allegations Rock ATL Commercial Real Estate Industry

Atlanta
Placeholder

Turns out Atlanta has a connection to the FIFA bribe scandal. As first broken by scoopmeister Tony Wilbert on his blog, one of the accused in the bribery ring for the international soccer association is a Cayman Island resident and former bank exec who owns real estate in Atlanta. According to the federal racketeering charges, Jeffrey Webb's property at 2116 Adel Dr in Loganville was allegedly part of the effort to funnel bribe money from FIFA vendors to key FIFA executives. Jeffrey, president of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (which is hosting a knockout round for the Gold Cup hosted at the Georgia Dome this July) lives in the Cayman Islands, but, according to the indictment, he had a vendor send $500k through a Cayman bank to help fund a swimming pool at his Atlanta residence. You can read more at SkylineViews and in the indictment itself.
