THAT'S GREAT! IT STARTS WITH AN EARTHQUAKE!
It's the end of the world as we know it. No, not the R.E.M split. A split within Barry Real Estate that fundamentally changes the makeup of that firm. We just learned that Chris Schoen has separated from long-time partner Barry founder  Hal Barry  and partnered with another local developer.

Chris (seen here chatting at our Central Perimeter event earlier this year) has partnered with De Little and Greenstone Properties (developers of the Newell Rubbermaid HQ) to strengthen and grow its full-service CRE platform and further attract institutional players, sources tell us. Barry's Harvy Rudy  is also jumping over with Chris. Greenstone, with some  300k SF under leasing and management, is aggressively seeking new opportunities, sources say. And one-half of the team responsible for Allen Plaza is a big step in that direction. Chris, De, and Hal all did not return calls seeking comment.

But wait! There's more! Avison Young also will be moving its Atlanta offices to 30 Allen Plaza (above), taking over the space originally housing Barry Real Estate, sources say. In turn, Avison also snagged the leasing and management of the tower. Chris' departure is a surprising end to a partnership that has seen its ups and downs, including losing 55 Allen Plaza to foreclosure earlier this year, as we were first to report. Stay tuned to Bisnow for further developments.
