If it has a Publix or a Kroger store attached to it, Hal Scudder wants it. (Some people just demand easy access to cereal.) Hal, the Phillips Edison & Co CIO, told us last week that the firm's shopping center REIT's recent purchase of six grocery-anchored centers totaled more than 500k SF, including this Kroger-anchored center called Grassland Crossing in Alpharetta. The price tag was $60.5M. The recent buys only add to Phillips Edison's overall "significant presence in Atlanta," Hal says. "We like the Atlanta market. We know it.
