MEAN, GREEN MILLARD CHOATE
Millard Choate

We're kidding. Millard Choate is far from mean. We snapped a pic of him on top of Choate Construction's HQ at 8200 Roberts Dr. in Sandy Springs, holding remains of the old roof. Choate is undertaking a major renovation to achieve LEED Silver (or better), he tells us. Renovations include installing low-flow toilets and water fixtures, energy efficient lighting, LED parking lot lights, and a new TPO reflective roof with—get ready for it—a solar tube array that will generate 65-75 kilowatt/hour. Once up and running, Millard says the solar energy will save the company at least $22K/year  and reduce peak-energy rates by at least a penny. "I tout LEED not just from my conservancy standpoint, but from the check your return on investment standpoint,? he says.
