With back-to-school shopping on the brain, we visited Simon?s Lenox Square. This year, retailers may be enjoying the season more than the summer-loving kids. The National Retail Federation's survey found that the average American family will spend $606.40 on clothes, shoes, supplies, and electronics—that's up from $548.72 last year and $594.24 in 2008. K-12 and college spending together will top $55B, making this the second biggest consumer spendingevent for retailers behind the winter holidays, according to NRF. We're sure students are thrilled. |
