Another part of the Midtown Mile fell into place over the weekend as home furnishings retailer CB2 opened its doors Saturday afternoon. We snapped these three shoppers there at 12th and Peachtree. The 14K SF shop is the first major retail spot to open in that part of Midtown in decades. CB2 is a sister chain to Crate and Barrel, which already has a presence in Atlanta. The new shop joins other hip retail addresses, including the chain?s location on trendy lower Broadway in Manhattan.

Here?s a look inside. Selig's Shirley Gouffon, handling retail leasing for the building, says CB2 fits in with the building's other retail tenants because none of them have a presence elsewhere in Atlanta. (Other tenants include Irish pub, Ri Ra, and the eatery Noon Midtown.) ?It gives people a unique reason to visit Midtown,? she tells us. Gouffon says she went after CB2 as a tenant three years ago. As for the specific location: she says Midtown is ?ground zero? for CB2?s existing catalog customers. We assume that means a mosque furnishing store controversy will be the next big news there.
