A big player in the data center world could be the new owner of the American Cancer Society Center in Downtown Atlanta.

Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT, a non-traded REIT that is partly sponsored by Atlanta-based Carter, is in talks to buy the 996K SF office building at 250 Williams St. for $166M, or about $167/SF, according to Commercial Real Estate Direct.

Cousins tapped Cushman & Wakefield and put the American Cancer Society building up for sale earlier this year. Cousins CEO Larry Gellerstedt previously said the company planned to sell both ACS and its Emory Point mixed-use project off Clifton Road to help retire $200M of some $550M in debt that is maturing this year.
